true enough, but 4 are a majority, and have all the power:AllWeatherFan said:Please note that the following is from a left-winger who opposes Pat Williams' membership on the Board of Regents:
Individual board members have no power. None. But go right ahead and carry on with the histrionics.

Yeah, very sad day. Pat Williams sucks cock by choice. End of story.
Well, not exactly true since "power" can be measured and exerted in so many different ways. Do you believe any other of the BOR would have been able to have access to national press? And if somehow they did, do you think it would have gotten the attention that being a former U.S. Congressman can bring? If nothing else the lesser members who may have political aspirations of their own may try to curry favor with someone who is well connected. Pat's influence is worth multiple times what other regents could bring. That is power.AllWeatherFan said:Please note that the following is from a left-winger who opposes Pat Williams' membership on the Board of Regents:

The word you used is "power" which is certainly different than "authority".AllWeatherFan said:Don't take it from me. Take it from the Regents themselves:
“Regents have authority only as a board. Individual regents have no authority.”

Only one of five attorneys is a UM grad. 38% are Bozeman/bobcat educated. Other friends of mine have stated the same thing. We have many women, native americans and others not UM educated. 100 percent against!
Politics as usual. If you are a Dem, love a Dem! Same with Reeps.
To say a regent has no power (regardless of being Pat or not), well... eh, OK, yeah, we're good.AllWeatherFan said:So if Pat has "power," it's not because he's a regent, it's because he's Pat. I'll buy that. Are we good?

There are plenty of things to be concerned about regarding Indian country and tribal politics, but your B.S. attitude seems rooted in ignorance. And it has nothing to do with whether Pat Williams belongs on the BOR.JBS said:Windy Boy needs to talk to a couple of guys I know up in Arlee. This has become an unnecesary civics debate and political rally. The fact of the matter is that Williams specifically commented in an article known to be about a single athlete on the eve of jury selection. It was either a malicous effort to taint the process or inexcusable negligence. That concern stands before the obvious points made about the impropriety of such a stooge being on the BOR. Its a no brainer if you combine it all. However, politics will win out when it has nothing to do with the legitimate concerns voiced.
