State Senators speak out on Williams' Regent Confirmation

Pat Williams will be a pain in the ass for the entire U system if he becomes a Regent.

He is a lying blowhard that had his own problems with a few women while he was acting as a rep. from Montana. Two faced sidewinder. People like him are the reason I hate all politicians. Yeah even worse than bobscats.

I did NOT remember Facey as any type of.... Griz football player ever. No I did not look it up. But he does not ring a a bell!

Any ex Griz that sticks up for sissy Pat Williams is not welcome in my house!

Added to that, I challenge anyone to show me proof that Pat Williams had ANY say on the 2013 Griz recruiting class. Oh, that's right, you can't, because he didn't have any say in recruiting. I'll bet you Pat Williams can't name one player the Griz signed outside of the state of Montana.

Flame away Havfan & friends......it is what it is.....the perception of Griz football players around the State and in the legislature is 180 degrees from the e-griz Kool-Aid fountain. You may not want to admit it but there's may be a new Sherriff if town looking over the shoulders of administrators and coaches....whether it's spoken or not!!! I think the new people that came in [Haslem & Delaney] get it....the old guard on this board....not so much!!!

Teton, I never said anything about the perception of Griz football. I think we're all very well aware of the current "public perception". (Though that is subjective and not unanimous). I simply said Pat Williams is not on the Athlete Conduct Committee at UM. If you don't believe me, you can look it up on http://www.um.edu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. And I also asked for proof that Pat Williams recruited Griz football players in the Class of 2013. That is all.

JBS, I'm not following. What exactly are you saying I'm giving up on??? I'm simply pointing out that Pat Williams doesn't preside over the UM Athlete Conduct Committee, no matter how much some people wish he did. Teton stated that Williams is riding shotgun over the discipline of Grizzly football players and the coaching staff, and that's not true.
I am saying that Mrs. Pat Williams is the catalyst behind the whole shitstorm that has happened. Any de. ense of Mr. or Mrs. will be strongly opposed by me, and your moral superiority on this board has bothered me for a long time. Talk all you want about how you know this and that, but I don't care. Whether he is put back on the BOR or not, Mrs. Pat Williams is going down. Not in a violent way. Investigate and learn before you judge.

Ummmm.......Bullshit

You have completely lost me JBS, lol. I'm not sure how it's judgemental to point out a fact about Williams NOT having the power that Teton claims he does, as in He is NOT member of the Athlete Conduct Committee at UM. That's all I said. But I will bow out of this convo with you lol. Carry on....

And I will also say to Teton, IF you really believe Pat Williams is pulling all the strings, and you seem to be in favor of that, then he's pulling em' at MSU too.

I agree with you HavFan; of course PW is not recruiting FB players or on any kind of Athlete Conduct Committee. However.....if one recruit comes in with any kind of dirt on his record [i.e. Middleton with his DUI] the coaches & AD will be getting a phone call from Williams or his surrogates....that is the type of scenario that will be getting a lot of scrutiny that was overlooked in the past.

I really wish folks would get off of the Gwen Florio and accuser nonsense, and get with what the real problem is. It is Mrs. Pat Williams, a professor of nonsense at our University. Please.

I'm surprised. I'd think the Republicans would be very willing to vote against Mr. Williams simply because he's not a Republican. Maybe the NYT thing was a wiley strategy to gather Republican support for his nomination. It this is the case, he's a pretty sharp dude.

Don't be so naive.....Pat Williams has more power in his little finger than you and e-griz have in your whole arsenal of air!! He is a lifelong politician....he knows where the power is, how to accumulate it, and most important how to use it. Yeah.....dam right he could swing the hammer at MSU....but Ash has a pretty squeaky clean image [there's that darn perception thingee  ]
By the way, we had our
come to Jesues moment
about 7 years ago on recruiting thugs and drug dealers.....fired the coach, accepted our bad publicity AND perception from the State...sucked it up and moved on. We've come a long way......wouldn't you agree?

I spoke with three of the Montana State Senators on the Education and Cultural Resources Committee (the one that will vote to confirm or reject Pat Williams as Regent) on Thursday afternoon. There are 6 Republicans and 4 Democrats on the committee. Democrats Tom Facey of Missoula and Jonathan Windy Boy both said they would vote to confirm Williams without question. Republican Dave Lewis of Helena said he wanted to ask Williams at the upcoming March 20 hearing about why he made his comments to the New York Times regarding "thugs" and "thuggery" on the UM football team before he makes up his mind to confirm or reject. The full, unedited comments of all three senators are included in the story. Facey said even if the committee voted "not to confirm" Williams, he would recommend that the State Sanate reject the committee's vote and confirm Williams anyway. Please listen and comment. Thank you..

I think Tom Facey is a former Griz football player

So he is a thug ?
Your birth certificate is an apology from the condom factory, you rubber lipped woodpecker..... :D

Teton, are you suggesting that if approved Pat Williams, while entrusted to preside over the ENTIRE MONTANA UNIVERSITY SYSTEM, should treat UM differently than he does MSU? That pretty much flies in the face of every word in the B.O.R. literature., and if so, is all the more reason he NOT be appointed. I'd also say, If his sole mission is to clean up a "dirty" Griz football program, than he sure would be failing every other issue facing higher ed in Montana today. Lest we forget, the Montana University System is a HELL OF A LOT MORE than just Griz and Cat football, and If one member of the B.O.R. is solely fixated on just one of the state's football program's and no other issues regarding higher education in this great state, then he has ZERO business being a member of the B.O.R. He would indeed be failing us all. Especially, the 1000's of students and faculty at EVERY state institution, including Montana State.

Naive. One regent, with as much power as you claim he has, can sway his will on an obviously weak president. His wife is the bitch behind the whole thing. It really is that simple.

Here is Senator Jonathan Windy Boy:

He's from Box Elder. He plays the drums. He has stated he doesn't need facts. He has his mind made up.

As Detective Joe Friday would say, "Just the facts."

Democratic State Senator Jonathan Windy Boy was unequivocal in his support for Williams. In fact, Windy Boy said if the New York Times had asked him about the University of Montana football team, he would probably have said the same words Williams did. When asked if he would have any questions for Mr. Williams during the upcoming hearing on March 20, Windy Boy said “no, because he already has my vote even before the hearing starts”
