Pat Williams will be a pain in the ass for the entire U system if he becomes a Regent.

He is a lying blowhard that had his own problems with a few women while he was acting as a rep. from Montana. Two faced sidewinder. People like him are the reason I hate all politicians. Yeah even worse than bobscats.

I did NOT remember Facey as any type of.... Griz football player ever. No I did not look it up. But he does not ring a a bell!

Any ex Griz that sticks up for sissy Pat Williams is not welcome in my house!

Added to that, I challenge anyone to show me proof that Pat Williams had ANY say on the 2013 Griz recruiting class. Oh, that's right, you can't, because he didn't have any say in recruiting. I'll bet you Pat Williams can't name one player the Griz signed outside of the state of Montana.

JBS, I'm not following. What exactly are you saying I'm giving up on??? I'm simply pointing out that Pat Williams doesn't preside over the UM Athlete Conduct Committee, no matter how much some people wish he did. Teton stated that Williams is riding shotgun over the discipline of Grizzly football players and the coaching staff, and that's not true.

I am saying that Mrs. Pat Williams is the catalyst behind the whole shitstorm that has happened. Any de. ense of Mr. or Mrs. will be strongly opposed by me, and your moral superiority on this board has bothered me for a long time. Talk all you want about how you know this and that, but I don't care. Whether he is put back on the BOR or not, Mrs. Pat Williams is going down. Not in a violent way. I agree with you HavFan; of course PW is not recruiting FB players or on any kind of Athlete Conduct Committee. However.....if one recruit comes in with any kind of dirt on his record [i.e. Middleton with his DUI] the coaches & AD will be getting a phone call from Williams or his surrogates....that is the type of scenario that will be getting a lot of scrutiny that was overlooked in the past.

I spoke with three of the Montana State Senators on the Education and Cultural Resources Committee (the one that will vote to confirm or reject Pat Williams as Regent) on Thursday afternoon. There are 6 Republicans and 4 Democrats on the committee. Democrats Tom Facey of Missoula and Jonathan Windy Boy both said they would vote to confirm Williams without question. Republican Dave Lewis of Helena said he wanted to ask Williams at the upcoming March 20 hearing about why he made his comments to the New York Times regarding "thugs" and "thuggery" on the UM football team before he makes up his mind to confirm or reject. The full, unedited comments of all three senators are included in the story. Facey said even if the committee voted "not to confirm" Williams, he would recommend that the State Sanate reject the committee's vote and confirm Williams anyway. Please listen and comment. That pretty much flies in the face of every word in the B.O.R. literature., and if so, is all the more reason he NOT be appointed. I'd also say, If his sole mission is to clean up a "dirty" Griz football program, than he sure would be failing every other issue facing higher ed in Montana today. Lest we forget, the Montana University System is a HELL OF A LOT MORE than just Griz and Cat football, and If one member of the B.O.R. is solely fixated on just one of the state's football program's and no other issues regarding higher education in this great state, then he has ZERO business being a member of the B.O.R. Democratic State Senator Jonathan Windy Boy was unequivocal in his support for Williams. In fact, Windy Boy said if the New York Times had asked him about the University of Montana football team, he would probably have said the same words Williams did. When asked if he would have any questions for Mr. Williams during the upcoming hearing on March 20, Windy Boy said “no, because he already has my vote even before the hearing starts”
