Teton, are you suggesting that if approved Pat Williams, while entrusted to preside over the ENTIRE MONTANA UNIVERSITY SYSTEM, should treat UM differently than he does MSU? That pretty much flies in the face of every word in the B.O.R. literature., and if so, is all the more reason he NOT be appointed. I'd also say, If his sole mission is to clean up a "dirty" Griz football program, than he sure would be failing every othered issue facing higher ed in Montana today. Lest we forget, the Montana University System is a HELL OF A LOT MORE than just Griz and Cat football, and If one member of the B.O.R. is solely fixated on just one of the state's football program's and no other issues regarding higher education in this great state, then he has ZERO business being a member of the B.O.R. He would indeed be failing us all. Especially, the 1000's of stdents and faculty at EVERY state institution, including Montana State.

very well said havgriz, thankyou......
c
Horshit. Did you read what he said? One confessed rape(kicked off the team, Deer Lodge), one completley innocent rape charge, compared to a murder and a coach dealing meth? Both proved? Jesus, havregrizfan, I hate fence riders. There is no way the Griz problems are even in the same league as the cat problems from the past. No Griz killed a guy in the middle of an empty field, no griz cocach sold meth to students. But then they lecture us on how to be nice? Fuckthem

Here is Senator Jonathan Windy Boy:

He's from Box Elder. He plays the drums. He has stated he doesn't need facts. He has his mind made up.

As Detective Joe Friday would say, "Just the facts."

Sounds like somebody's trying to get the band back together :thumb:

Added to that, I challenge anyone to show me proof that Pat Williams had ANY say on the 2013 Griz recruiting class. Oh, that's right, you can't, because he didn't have any say in recruiting. I'll bet you Pat Williams can't name one player the Griz signed outside of the state of Montana.
First off...what the fuck are you talking about? Secondly, what's with all the challenges? Third, par Williams, along with his party, are douches...but, if repubs vote to confirm him, they are bigger douches on this subject...

I must have missed the part where PW called the other State Universities Football players, "Thugs" Yeah, there is a lot more to the BOR than riding shotgun on a dirty football program...Williams is a pro at spending tax dollars on education regardless of what schools.....but in my opinion PW has his sights set on cleaning up the UM football team along with his other duties of the BOR....and if you don't think that Williams will be a Player behind the scenes [UM honor board.....ha-ha what a joke..who diciplines the coaches and O'days/Foleys??? NOT THEM] you are in denial!!!
Pat is a Butte politician.....he has a machine behind him with most educators leaning Democratic...to underestimate him would be a huge mistake!!!

Teton, can you explain how and why UM's new honor code is a joke? And you made my point for me. A member of B.O.R. doing ANYTHING "behind the scenes" as you say, is not doing his duty to the STATE OF MONTANA. Transparancy from the B.O.R. is our right as citizens of Montana. You are basically saying you have no pronlem with government employees witholding vital info from the citizens of Montana. I wonder how much pro Williams retoric you would be spewing on EGRIZ had he taken a different tone towards Griz football?

Windy Boy needs to talk to a couple of guys I know up in Arlee. The woe is me and my land has been taken from me attitude doesn't really work with a reservation and people who have brains and very good leadership.
How much time have you spent at Rocky Boy? It ain't the Mission Valley or the Flathead Reservation. There are plenty of things to be concerned about regarding Indian country and tribal politics, but your B.S. attitude seems rooted in ignorance. And it has nothing to do with whether Pat Williams belongs on the BOR.

Teton, I never said anything about the perception of Griz football. I think we're all very well aware of the current "public perception". (Though that is subjective and not unanimous). I simply said Pat Williams is not on the Athlete Conduct Committee at UM. If you don't believe me, you can look it up on http://www.um.edu" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. And I also asked for proof that Pat Williams recruited Griz football players in the Class of 2013. That is all.

I agree with you HavFan; of course PW is not recruiting FB players or on any kind of Athlete Conduct Committee. However.....if one recruit comes in with any kind of dirt on his record [i.e. Middleton with his DUI] the coaches & AD will be getting a phone call from Williams or his surrogates....that is the type of scenario that will be getting a lot of scrutiny that was overlooked in the past.
Lol Kavario Middleton did not come to UM with a DUI. He got cited for one here and was suspended for it. You act like you're an expert on all of this, and you have no idea what you are talking about. Kavario was def not some multiple offense criminal like you seem to think he is

Coach Ash has a soft football team on both sides of the line of scrimmage. I would worry about that

Glad you brought that up WaGriz....you forgot to mention that the little angel Kavorio was kicked off the UW team for smoking pot......got a DUI.....and Pflu lets him practice all Spring & Fall....suspends him for a non conference ass kicking by Tennessee game....and you wonder why some people like Royce and Pat Williams would advocate a "change of direction" :o You guys slay me!!!!!

It's not BS and it's not rooted in ignorance. My best friend, my brother from another mother, is an Indian. Yes, I have spent time on the Rocky Boy, and every other reservation in this state, a couple in Wyoming, and one very long weekend with the Apaches in Arizona. I go to pow wows with my brother. Mr. Windy Boy is a walking, talking cliche of most tribes I've seen, and to say it has nothing to do with Pat Williams is stupid. This guy has a vote, and said he doesn't need facts? Would have said the same thing without said facts? There is a difference between tribes, and the Salish are way beyond all the rest in the state. Have you ever stopped in a bar in Hardin and felt comfortable? Compare that with Arlee, Ronan, or Polson. The Salish get it.

Teton I think you have persuaded me that PW should be confirmed to the BOR and clean up the state football teams. I now agree we need to get rid of the "thugs", defined by PW as anyone who commits any crime in the following areas: DUI/MIP/alcohol offenses, assault, drugs, sexual assault, theft and vandalism. And if a coach doesn't immediately release any player on the team that commits these crimes, or as you say, recruits any player who had previously committed any of these crimes, the coach should be immediately fired, and if the AD doesn't fire the coach, the ad should be fired as well. And this policy should be applied retroactively to the coaches and players actions for the last few years.

I also think if an athletic program has a budget hole and needs an additional million dollar cash infusion from the school they should just shut down the athletic program for a few years, and if Pat is confirmed we should all encourage him to push this.

Of course any policy from the BOR will apply to all schools, and no doubt Pat will ride herd on all schools. So given all the arrests at MSU in the last year for these thug actions, and re-recruiting that kid from Flathead who was arrested not once but twice for drug crimes, who do you think will be your new coach next year? Or do you think Pat is so powerful he will just shut down the MSU athletic program due to the million dollar budget hole?

Middleton's dui was on June 6 in Seattle, which was obviously long after spring ball. The common punishment for a first-time dui is a one-game suspension, which he served during the next game, i.e. the first game of the season. Middleton had already been punished by UW for whatever he did there. After doing their due diligence on him, UM gave him an opportunity to play. I don't see much that UM did that could be validly criticized in this situation. Of course, people like you can just make up facts and tell lies, but that says more about the type of person you are, rather than what UM did.

It will be a disappointing day for Montana if PW still gets this BOR seat. Sounds like another member should be gone too. Sorry, just cannot support any member that refers to any college student(s) as thugs.

He will be a Regent with a vendetta against UM's athletic department.

And yes, he is that type of person.

Please note that the following is from a left-winger who opposes Pat Williams' membership on the Board of Regents:

Individual board members have no power. None. But go right ahead and carry on with the histrionics.
