Roderick is a Cat..

Tanner told the coaching staff he would come to UM if he was guaranteed to be the starter. Giid fir the coaching staff to not give in to that garbage. That was probably his breaking point. UM gives him the starting job he is in Missoula, otherwise he goes home. No biggie. JJ will be the next NC QB for UM, not TRod.

Yep and you must have been sitting right next to Coach Delaney and heard the exact words Tanner told him.

Well yea, it's like chosing between a job you want and a job you really want. You know you got a great job (MSU), but you might as well see if the good job (UM) will give into your boldest demand.

   Yes if a great job is winning one play off game every few years (I have not done my homework and might actually be giving MS pew some credit). You scat fans kill me. We had a good year. We will rise. We will rise. We will rise. Get to the NC - wait. I mean get to the semi finals and then you have some credibility.

You want a job where you haven't gotten any bonuses 2 out of the last 3 years, the IRS is sniffing all over, and the CEO might lose his job?

Or a job that with growth, bonuses, and stability.

Hmmm. :thumb:

Last time I looked the Cats had the same number of NCs as the Griz! I agree let this thread die. Roderick did what he thought was best for his situation. He conisdered both schools and MSU was his choice. I don't believe Tanner made demands on the Griz to be guaranteed anything. I don't think he is that type of kid.

Growth, bonuses and stability--what a joke! You had a losing season, didn't even go to the playoffs, an interim coach and an NCAA investigation hanging over your head. Plus the UM enrollment is in the tank down almost 800 students. That is a dismal picture for any person deciding on a job with that organization. Did you attend UM business school!

Well since you brought up the business analogy, you speak like a sales person or middle manager who is only focused on what appears to be the short term payday with a very conservative approach. Most millionaires and successful business owners go the opposite way of everyone else and what feels good for the moment  . I prefer to look at the big picture and what the recruits from the last few years will yield over the next two years. If I was Trod I would be asking why the head coach has not had any job offers and yet the team is on their third offense coordinator in three years. The stability you tout seems weak to me. Live in your glass house, but don't come crying on egriz when the stones crash through your walls.

Why is it that when viable info comes to egriz certain people get their panties all bunched up? The first part was factual. The rest was speculation on my part.

MSU has had very strong recruiting years under Ash. This year is going to be another very strong year. Twp of the three OCs went to FBS schools for a lot more money and one became a head coach. That is a credit to coach Ash. How do you know Ash has not been offered jobs. He is near the end of his career age wise and loves Bozeman. So your big picture is really not good business judgement. I see MSU as a school that has been building a solid foundation since ASh came here. They have improved every year and the future looks good. They have an excellent coaching staff and Ash has replaced those that have left with stronger ones. That's a good big picture.

Seriously, you are trying to say that UM looks more stable. Where are your last few coaches at, lets see, one is coaching one of the worst teams in the FBS, and one is unemployed. Where are the Cats latest OC's, Svboda is HC at a DII, Wright is OC at a FBS, both moved on to positions where they had previous ties and had opportunity's to advance their careers. One look at Ash's career shows that he is not the kind to jump jobs to get a better position, he is a program builder and is loyal to those programs.
How many OC's and DC have been at UM in the last few years, what is the long term (beyond next year) outlook for the coaching staff at UM.

Ursa, I was wondering the same thing. I guess the only way to make a thread like this go away is to stop posting in it. Trod can't be a Griz anymore. He made his choice. I'm happy for him and congrats to MSU on another great recruiting coup. No sour grapes from me. I KNOW they got a great player that I wanted to be a Griz really badly.

As someone else mentioned, signing day is less than a month away. Time to go back to talking about the kids that are coming to Missoula.

Can a thread be locked for redundancy? How about for tedium?
if you fiz fans would just stop posting stupid sh!t, I am sure it would die quickly,

Damn, I wasn't thinking, if that happened, this whole board would die quickly. :thumb:

Roderick is smart kid. He looked at everything from top to bottom and decided that he wanted to play for a team, in his words, "going in the right direstion"!

Well, at least he has the word "direction" somewhere thereabouts; of course, if you're on the bottom looking up that too can be construed as a "direction" as well. :ugeek:

I shouldn't have to mention who is closer to that predicament.

Huh?

Huh? Don't tell me, another store bought degree? Who do you think is closer to the bottom: the Bobcats or the Griz? Think about it. At least one program has a "direction." the other is a leeching parasite wherein everything else is above them. "They" the poor, poor victim that goes around victimizing, gathering unto themselves their sympathy cards; deserving of all derision and spite up to now. As if "they" have a right in being hypocritical, besides.

I have found that you can kill threads by going off topic.

Another typical response from one of Brinty’s lemmings! You are such a pedestrian fan. UM is destined to fail as long as they continue their "national searches" that go no farther than a 10 ft. circumference around Main Hall. Why are you obsessed with me? You must be an Obama supporter. I pay more in taxes than you make all year!

That's rediculous.

Those who say that the Griz are washed up as a program, that the Cats are headed in the right direction, and that the Griz have poor facilities, etc., are only fooling themselves. The Griz are still a top program in FCS and one year does not change that especially when considering that the team lost its star QB, who was better than DM at the end of the prior year. The Griz stadium is heads and shoulders above any other stadium in FCS and sells out every game with 25,000 excited fans paying at least $30 a ticket, which is something that no other team in the division can even dream out. Remember that in 2011, the Griz lost a very close semi-final game on the road after playing a dismal first half. Certainly, they would have had a good chance to win the title if they would have advanced. The Cats playoff performance in recent years has been mediocre and they have not showed they they are more than a good Big Sky team. The NCAA hasn't come up with anything that would be cause for worry (that comes from a reliable source) although they may try to justify their actions, which could be somewhat of a concern. The Griz have an outstanding team coming back for 2013 and the QB position should be better and could be great if JJ returns. Sure, it would have been great to get Roderick, but he is from Bozeman, and has close ties to the Bobcat program. But I doubt that he would start ahead of JJ.
