Sears left USC when it was clear he would not start, then committed to San Diego St, then reneged on that commitment and signed with Boise, and is now transferring from there because he is not the starter. I guess with only one year left he wouldn't be able to transfer again should he not win the starting job.ordigger said:

This year, Boise State had a coaching change, and the head coach gave him a fair shot until an injury in fall camp basically derailed his chances. He’s gotten in in mop up duty here and there this year.
Likely just wants to get on the field for his senior season. He appears to be a pretty good QB when he’s healthy, but it seems like he’s always battling injuries. If he were to not get hurt next year, I think he could excel for us or wherever he goes.

I was in the unofficial portal today looking at players I thought we could use short term. Being a former 4 star, I knew little about him. If he wants to play and stay in the west, we do make sense. Would’ve a good 1 year bridge while Britt and Huot get ready for a 2023 battle. Thanks

Digger hit it here. Bobby is all about connections, at this point. So, if he doesn't have ties to the player, former coach,etc, he's not interested and I don't blame him.

That is also not a hard, fast rule always for Bobby depending on need and talent. He took Forbes with little connection to the coaching staff at Nebraska or a recruiting relationship.
It’s open doors here for a QB transfer maybe even two of them. Looking at Coach Rosey’s twitter they are casting a huge wide net. No stone will go unturned so Sears or Cooper all make sense.

Probably not. He’s in the same class as Britt and he kind of burned his bridge when he de-committed. I think we need somebody with more experience.grizfan1984 said:

If burning your bridges is going to a Local p5 conference team then we may need to reevaluate recruiting, yes same class as Britt but at this point we have got to do better than a backup QB on a subpar Northern Iowa team if we can’t do better than that it’s gonna be a long seasonGriz til I die said:
