I already have a terrific life. Great wife and family. Happy. Healthy, so far. Don't have anything to worry about. Get to do pretty much what I want to do everyday. Plenty of time to try to teach people like you what sport is or should be about. Plenty of time exercise (and needs to ramp that up for the summer). Lake, Big Sky, Phoenix, travel. Lots of great friends. How's your life? I assume it's broader than making snippy comments and pointing out typos on egriz.

You may know more about the inner workings of the LG program being the ass kisser and groupie that you are, but assuming you know more about basketball is just another instance of your giant pompous ego, your sense of inflated worth, on display.

Besides Montana, three other Big Sky WBB programs are making a coaching change: Eastern Washington, Northern Colorado and Sacramento State. I checked the NCAA WBB transfer portal this morning. Montana has three players in the portal, EWC has eight players in the portal, UNC has six players in the portal and SAC has three. Weber State (no coaching transition of which I am aware) has four players in the portal. All other Big Sky schools combined (the stable ones?) list a total of three players in the portal.

Of course the number of departing players at any school may be higher, but the transfer portal doesn't currently reflect that. I personally reject speculating upon the "method," of roster change made by a specific coach, unless it's made public by some public statement or complaint. I'm all for Trust. Coaches are normally very careful about respecting individual privacy, and follow standardized procedures, about respecting the privacy rights of their players and parents... for many good reasons.

I, was a strong supporter of Mike Petrino and his outstanding staff, all of whom I consider to be professionals of the highest personal and professional caliber. Unfortunately, their jobs were casualties of the previous (non-interim) coaching tenure. Change was mandated and made, and I'm not interested in further speculation re: how we got here. There is a new head coach of MontanaWBB. (I do admit that, similar to PlayerRep, I feel some hurt regarding the interim coaches who were let go)

Regardless, the statistics above indicate that -- with coaching change, team rosters also undergo significant change. The incoming coaching staff (including retained asst., Jordan Sullivan) is now running the program. SO, I wish coach Holsinger, Sullivan, and Harris all the best through this difficult initial process. Go Griz.

Coaching changes often create turmoil. Looking at who's in the portal is interesting, but I would guess that most of those players wanted to leave and go elsewhere, outside of MT. Look at the EWU men. Most of those who went to the portal did so on their own volition, not because they were cut by the new coach. I agree with most of your post. However, I have chosen to move on. I have other uses of my time and money. Good luck to the LG. I'm sure the coach will do well or fairly well. It's just not the way I would treat people. LG basketball is not a business at UM, nor should it be. UM is also not a win at all cost school. I have followed closely and supported the LG since the time Krista joined the team.It was fun while it lasted.

That rule issn;t in effect yet. "The notification dates begin in 2022.

For this year, athletes in all sports will be required to notify their schools about their intent to transfer by July 1."

Also, I doubt that there are any restrictions to transferring when you get cut. There just can't be.

I don't know if there is a wait to transfer is you are cut, I agree that seems cruel, but there are also only so many spots out there so you'd want to be in consideration for as many as possible. And if you got cut next fall, there wouldn't be much time anyway, and you'd probably miss a season.

During my time watching the players who were let go, I never felt the "Montana players" were ever D1 talent. Some of you may dispute that (Player Rep).

In order to move the Lady Griz program forward, I am of the opinion that we need to accept change and see what the new coach can do. If his approach is not winning Big Sky Championships within 3 years, then everyone can be critical of the decisions he made. I graduated from U of M in 1994 and went to every game Lady Griz game from 1991 to 1994 and understand the history of the program and what the expectations are based on the past history of the program. However, the previous method of building a team is no longer successful in the Big Sky Conference and something needed to be changed. That started with SS being let go as her tenure was not successful and the program suffered. Petrino did an excellent job of bridging the gap but we needed change and that is what Holsinger is going to bring to the program.

Let's move forward and not dwell on the past and see if the new coach can get us back to the glory days.

Totally agree, I had a daughter play against the "Montana players" also and never once felt they were D1 players, good frontier conference but not D1. Everyone needs to stop acting like they fired the best coach in basketball history and move forward with what will hopefully be a change to get LG back to dominance!

I think one can safely assume that assuming cuts were made he made them after talking with each player individually, taking with staff and watching film. There were likely some that chose not to stay, others were likely told they did not have the skills he is looking for. I personally think there is some real talent on this team but it is also pretty easy to figure out which players are gone and that is nothing against them at all. We all need to look forward and hope things work out. I am also very surprised, at this point, that we have heard nothing about whether or not any of the staff have been retained.

If she was any good at all at her size, she’d be playing in a major conference and not a middling program in Montana that plays in an afterthought of a conference. Have you seen her tape? She can’t run. I laughed when I saw it but Holsinger needed to sign SOMEONE due to the backlash he’s receiving. He reminds me of Brian Fish already. Treats players as lesser than him. German gal is a dud who already has injury issues.
