Griz honest thoughts

You are clueless. None of what you said is true. The Cats will get beaten by ill St. Griz top 4 in nation. In national champ game in 2024. Dirty plays by Cats took away Griz offense. 3-3-5 is not gimmick. Griz staff isn’t old, but who cares. The players love the coaches. UM coaches much better than Cats. And not drunks.
Also... if we're going to get killed in nashville... that really doesn't speak well for how close the Griz are since you can't beat us. But keep trying buddy. I know Bobby is relying on you to be a good soldier.

Being #4 doesn’t feel that great when #1 is where they are because of someone that was ran out of Missoula 5 years ago.

The guy who is going to get you killed in Nashville was on Stitt’s and Bobby’s staffs here.

Guess we'll see. I think we're going to win by 3 touchdowns... kind of what we've done against the second tier of FCS. The better teams like Yale and SFA played it a little closer, so that could happen with ISU I suppose.

Cats haven’t played anyone with close to the guys in the trenches ISU has besides Oregon. SDSU lost most of their guys from last year and that was UM’s weakness as previously covered.

Yes, tell us about all of your championships since 1984. And about all of your losses to the Dakota schools over the years and in recent years. You, like many Cat fans, have a bad case of Big Head Syndrome.

Shall we bet $100 on the championship on the spread?

Who was run out of Missoula 5 years ago? Do you know the circumstances? You have no clue what has driven Ill St. I do because my best friend in AZ grew up around there and has followed the teams for decades. You are just making up stuff. Are you talking Nicholson or Niekamp? I know both of them.

Why do you just lie and make up stuff? It detracts from the board and the discussion.

Their strength and conditioning coach who disagreed with Bobby because Bobby thinks he is a genius at strength and conditioning without knowledge in the matter. As far Niekamp I have not been impressed with Illinois State defense. I am not sure about his circumstances but Niekamp played at ISU so I would assume he wanted to go there because of his personal ties not issues with Bobby like Nicholson.

I mean their defense held NDSU to only 21 points despite turning it over 5 times so they can't be too awful. I understand why the Cats are favored but I'd argue the fact ISU went undefeated through the playoffs as an Unseeded Road team has probably been the best thing to help them prep for Nashville.

My tone came off incorrectly. I don’t think Illinois State are scrubs on defense, they are fine. They have looked great in some games and average in others. Illinois State strength and conditioning is elite. The size on the Dline is their defenses biggest strength.

I have been looking at Hauck’s record vs Vigen’s record, yes Bobby has a larger sample size, but they are very similar.

The Griz are right there with the Dakota schools, heck they beat 3 of them this season.

While it is disappointing that the Griz lost to the Cats twice this year, imagine how so many Cat fans felt during the Streak.

The sun has still been rising since Saturday and once the New Year begins the players and coaches will be back working hard for next season.

I’m sure that I am in the minority in this next sentence.

I would like to see the Cats win in a week and a half, it will only help both them and the Griz in the future.

Yes, it may hinder the in-state recruiting a bit, but both teams only have 1/3 of the players who are from Montana.

I want the bar for our coach to strive to be Tim Polasek not Brent Vigen.

Nicholson came with Stitt from the D2. He had little experience. A head coach knows what he wants and the strength coach either agrees or moves on. He left UM to be an assistant strength coach not even the head strength coach, I believe. As if you know anything about the area or situation.

I can see your point, I was not saying that the bar should be Coach Vigen, I was just saying that he and Coach Hauck’s records are very similar.

Coach Polasek’s sample size is very small, his team was also finished two weeks before the Griz season ended. We will see how his team’s perform over the next few years.

He could be another great coach in the succession of NDSU coaches. I would say that it is too early to say.

Nicholson has a kinesiology degree and more experience as a strength coach than the joke journalism major Dan Ryan. The results are shown on the field every week.

Hauck is a better coach than either of them.
If you look at Coach Hauck’s best 5 years, I would agree. Those would be the 2004,2008, 2009, 2023 and this year. He took the Griz to 4 National Championships and his record was 66-10, in conference it was 35-4.

Vigen’s record is 60-12, 37-3 in conference and 3 National Championship game appearances.

Hence my statement on that they have similar records. I can see your logic, but the numbers seem that they are both good coaches with similar stats.

How are 2004, 2008 and 2009 relevant to now? Hauck has a lot bigger sample size as you stated so cherry picking his best years skews the statistics substantially. I think you should be looking at 2018-2025 for Hauck and 2021-2025 for Vigen. The numbers are not close and 2023 is a clear outlier. If you are including 1.0 you need to also include the bad. 2003 with a roster of guys who won the chipper 2 years prior Hauck lost to a D2. Has Polasek or Vigen or any other coach at a top FCS program ever lost to a D2?

You imply NDSU was a typical D2. Good try.
