Griz honest thoughts

Nope. My dad didn’t leave anything. He taught me many things.

Feel free to get your info from benchwarmers and brothers of former players. Feel free to ignore the coaches and players who actually fit in the field. Getting info from bench warmers and Never-Played-The-Gamers is just right for you. I suppose you don’t know any players or former players. Players who actually got on the field.
Are you suggesting that I don’t know current or former Griz players or football players as a whole? For Griz players I know a lot of people who played for the Griz 10 years ago, some regularly seeing the field and some as you would describe as bench warmers. I don’t know any current Griz players because they are no longer my peers and I haven’t lived in Missoula for almost 8 years. As far as knowing football players overall I know plenty and probably more than you.

You are spot on. UM was the standard and top brass needs to commit to getting back to it. Missoula is reminding me more and more of grand forks. The locals don’t want to change, don’t want to grow or adapt. They want things to just stay the same as they were 20-25 years ago, and when that happens you get left behind. I remember when ndsu went D1 and the grand forks people said it will never work we’ll see you back in D2 in 5 years. Well guess what. NDSU had a visionary at the top named Joe Chapman and he is the root cause of why that program is where it today. He had a vision, he had great people around him to execute and he blew the F out of the good ol boy network and said this IS the future of bizon football. It takes balls. Big huge stones . Griz brass, get your blinders off or get left in the dust.
NDSU wasn’t even in the semis. Was he responsible for that?

Was who responsible for what Hoops please clarify.
Lol. NDSU has won a million titles but yes let's cherry pick the one year they stubbed their toe. Hoops loves him some Griz, no doubt, but he's spinning this week trying to return all the incoming the program is taking.

Maybe you don’t know what is going on, but many of us do.

Who’s caught up with UM on NIL? How do you think UM has been able to keep Gubner, Bergan and Gillman? With no NIL? You have no clue what some Griz players have been offered by other schools. My good friends and I do.
Nobody said you didn't have NIL. I said you aren't the top dog in FCS in NIL. Neither are the cats, frankly. And while I don't know the numbers your players have been offered, I know plenty of what's being/ been bandied about to cat players. Numbers that fcs can't compete with.

Even some G6 schools can throw considerably more then we can, I'm particularly concerned about New Mexico. Eck has revitalized their fan base, has generated a ton of hype, had a 9-3 year 1 season and had an interview recently where he hyped yp the Big Sky and the Montanas.

By extension that's lead to a large increase in donations (according to my Step Bro, huge Lobo fan who lives outside of Albuquerque) and Eck was able to do that by bringing in a good number of Big Sky players. He knows the Conference and knows how good some of the players here are, I'm 100% expecting him to make a run at a few on both our and the Cats rosters.

Picking the current year is not cherry-picking.

Who in their right mind would want to play at that school?

Nope. I know 30 years of players. Way more than you. And I live in Missoula part of the year. I know 15 or 20 on the current team. I know some of their parents.

I no assume you don’t know any Griz NIL numbers. So, get out of here and quit wasting our time.

I'm tired of people complaining abut 13-2 seasons with runs deep into the playoffs.
Especially those whose solution is to tear down the whole leadership of the AD and the University. That really shows a lot of savvy. Who can forget the Engstrom teardown? I'm all for free speech and can tolerate the whining but I'm not a fan of ignorance.

You could definitely do worse than New Mexico particularly if you are from Arizona or Texas it isn’t too far away. They are on the rise as a program.
We'll see how long that lasts. A lot of history there that's hard to avoid.

They are on the rise for as long as Eck stays, already some smoke that he will be going to Wisconsin after next season if he and Fickell have similar results in 2026 as they did in 2025.

One of the questions/statements read on the GFP from X said it best, paraphrasing but the gist was "We don't need a full demolition but we do need some strategically placed dynamite to solve some glaring issues".

I think they have a lot of potential. Albuquerque itself has some surprisingly talented players and they are not too far from DFW and PHX which are 2 of the best concentrations of football talent in the country. There are no pro teams in New Mexico and New Mexico State has an even worse football history. The Mountain West could really be wide open as well. I’m no fan of Dan Mullen I won’t be surprised if he leaves UNLV in the future.
