Here are my Top 5 Fast Food/Fast Casual Burger Chains:

1. In-N-Out. Undisputed champion of the World. Double-Double animal style, fries, and a drink for like $6.50ish. People who knock the fries must drive 35 min before trying to eat them. Get them xtra crispy and enjoy that they have no cholesterol. On the price-quality-freshness-taste-service scale, there isn't a chain that can beat it. Period. Full stop.

2. Shake Shack. The East Coast's whiny answer to In-N-Out because they don't get In-N-Out. Thing is: it's really good. Very good rip-off of the champ. IDK if it's possible for a poor man's In-N-Out to cost 3x more, but if it is, you'll find it at Shake Shack. Fries are from a frozen bag of Ore-Ida crinkle cut. Serves beer, though, so . . .

3. Wendy's. A classic single with cheese will do the trick. Nice flavor, decent freshness, and for some reason, I dig the default ketchup/mayo combo with the onions. Very solid fries. Sub them out for spicy nuggs if you're feeling frisky.

4. McDonald's. There, I said it. But I will limit it to a fresh Big Mac. It's hard to explain, but sometimes you might not be in the mood for a cheeseburger per se, but you just want a Big Mac. Fries could be the best on this list.

5. Five Guys. It's not as if it's gross or anything. It's a good burger. Kinda sloppy, and the bun will disintegrate in the double grease before you're done. Fries are meh. The gripe I have with this place is they don't really have a default. They want you to tell them what to put on it. Cop out. Put your best foot forward, and I'll make mods as I see fit. Also, be prepared to pay as much if not more than Shake Shack.

Burger King and Carl's Jr. don't belong on any list of top anything. Pure trash.
Opinions?

I know you’re staying with larger chains, however. . . It’s midnight on gameday, you’ve been drinking most of the day, there’s a Dick’s Drive-in next to an In-N-Out. Where do you go? (Question for all).

Personally, I’m waiting in line behind three drug addicts at Dick’s.

Would love to hear everyone’s vote for Best hamburger ever.

In other news, CDA, I've never had an In-N-Out burger in my life.

Don’t forget your contributions to the literary world.

Never been to a Dick’s Drive in, but if there’s a White Castle, I’ll go eat 30 of their burgers in a heartbeat.

I was just thinking of another burger that I’ve never tried: Culver’s. Apparently, in the Upper Midwest, the have a place called Culver’s that has a thing called a “Butter Burger”. People swear by it up there. I suspect it’s because of the butter part. Kinda like how people love crab legs but they’re really just after the drawn butter. Has anyone ever tried it?

Culver’s is a lot like Shake Shack, IMHO. They had a couple in Phoenix when I lived there….pretty good…

This is a diabolical hypo. I think I’d have to go with Dick’s (in that very specific situation). When faced with those circumstances, I want Dick’s. I don’t need fancy lettuce and tomato. I want a patty, a slice of cheese, a pickle or two, some ketchup, and two buns. I want Dick’s in my mouth.

As for best hamburger ever, I might toss Hudson’s of CDA into the ring. Over 100 years of doing it, I think. No nonsense. No fries. Still hungry? Have another burger. I dig that place.

Okay I read the entire thing.
https://www.egriz.com/grizboard/viewtop ... Mexico#top

I've learned the following:

1. While I sincerely appreciate the publicity, it is obvious that Ursa has only read a handful of my food related books. If any are interested, you may want to pick up Sublime Sauerkraut Snacks for Sinners, Why oh Wyoming Tidbits and Tinctures, Boise Bites and GF to WA Culinary Adventures with a Brave Little Bear. I do specialize in hotdishes - particularly ELCA style. No knowledge of what they eat in the MS.

2. But, Ursa my friend, I take umbrage at the scurrilous and misleading characterization of lefse. I make it every Christmas and mine is the most delicious, tender and tasty version in the western world, nay the universe. Truly. And in my house, no one is allowed to eat it with anything besides butter and sugar. Period. Tortilla my blue Norwegian eyeball.

3. SACCAT66 is frickin brilliant.

4. Between #3 and ILTC, it is just plain hard sometimes to remember to hate the Cats.

I like how Nicky Minaj tweets that people should make up their own minds about the vaccine, then Joy Reid basically tells her to get back on the plantation that's expected of Black people. When Minaj stood her ground, Jack Bin Laden Dorsey took her off twitter. President Trump of course hasn't been allowed on twitter for a long time, but the Taliban Terrorists are allowed to tweet all they want.

Section 230 will be rescinded in 2023 if the Republicans grow a pair.

Cain had Metastatic Stage 4 Cancer.
Cain died within about 10 days of getting covid......Where do you get you

Both of you are partially correct and wrong at the same time. Stating that Cain HAD Metastatic Stage 4 (colon) cancer is true but that was in 2006 and he was a cancer survivor and 75 years old. This put him at a greater risk for a bad outcome when contracting covid-19. He was a fighter as evidence from surviving the cancer. After being diagnosed with covid with all the risk factors, he indeed became very sick but survived about 4 weeks not 10 days.

None of what I say above is really important other than partial truths come from all directions.

I have a co-worker, fully vacinated, booster already, dedicated mask wearer, avoids crowds, social distances, who is struggling today with a really rough case of covid. She is in her 60's, diabetic, kidney transplant survivor, immune suppressant drugs (high risk factors).

If I could ship you one in tact, I would. It's a whole experience. Many think it's overrated because they are expecting some sort of restaurant burger. It's not. It's fast food, and they invented the drive through. If the menu looks like it's from the late 1940s, that's because it is.

Honestly, I'm stunned that In-N-Out Burger originated in the LA area. I lived there for 10 years and NEVER HAD ONE.

Or...at least I don't think so...

I wasn't too many years out of college, and there were those occasional mornings where I couldn't find where I parked my car.

I’ve always wondered what people think the Top 5 steakhouses in Montana are. Can anyone provide a list of places I should try?

Totally agree! Culver's is pretty damn good. Someone else mentioned White Castle, agree they need to be in the top 10 in addition to you list. The only other one that needs to be in the discussion is FatBurger. Jesus I'm hungry.

Yeah, he could have died from Covid or a resurgence in the Cancer, or any number of things since his body was subjected to Napalm, AKA Chemo that nobody comes back from. You can't kill off the entire immune system and expect to fully recover. It just doesn't happen. In a pristine environment with clean air and water and perfect organic food, maybe, but not in our world.

As far as your co worker, I hope she recovers, but it's a long road.

Skipping both and going to Frisko Freeze.

Ok, so the majority of people in Israeli hospitals with Covid are fully vaccinated, but got sick because the vaccine effectiveness is wearing off... So what will people do, just line up every 6 months forever to get a booster? Why don't the vaccines work, besides they were rushed?

If you are a Veterinarian, you get a Rabies vaccination that will probably last 30 years or so with no booster required, according to a titer test. Why don't we need Polio vaccines every year? Because they got it right. How long are people going to blindly trust the media that says it's all good?

Ms. Maroon,

1) Lefse— Please note, CDA started it. He’s a bad influence on me.

2) Tinctures— I fell in love with that word after reading, Educated. I had no idea they could be used for severe burns following exposure to an explosion. I try and use that word at least once a day in everyday conversations. It plays well in Idaho. :thumb:

With respect to AZ in case he’s away, WC is actually the oldest burger CHAIN in the US. They are sliders. You can eat a lot of them in one sitting. Picture a split dinner roll with a thin patty, a pickle chip, and some diced, lightly grilled onions on it. Cheese or Jalapeño cheese if you want. You can get them frozen at the grocery store, but they aren’t the same. Actually, just look at this.

They are pretty tasty. Here’s a more realistic pic:
