When I referred to their past Hx I meant Sneed got recruited by Bobby before he resigned and it’s my understanding that Snead, Bobby and Rossy kept in contact over the last couple of years with the job changes and the transfers, and then this last recruiting process. AG wrote on his “ok now I do believe they are one and same.” And UM wrote on his “ this is starting to turn into this movie” and posted a fun meme from the classic movie One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest starring Jack Nicholson, from the Ken Keasey novel. So anyway I don’t know either AG or UM only contact was just from a few brief posts. But after I started this thread and I had posted a fair number of lengthy posts and the thread got going and it was starting to be really enjoyable, UM rolls in to the discussion and throws a bomb at me. Something to the affect that a slight shove or push and I will have achieved autofallatio. So I read this and I think who is this prick, as a male I believe that was my reptilian cortex talking. UM, you really got my attention and hopefully everybody else’s here at Riverdale High. But that was your intent right, because you are good at this stuff aren’t you, I can tell. Then I start to breath again and try to analysis just what Jughead here was trying to say to me. I think you thought that maybe my posts were too long or verbose or too opinionated (that’s actually what I was shooting for by the way I wanted my opinion posts to sound opinionated, lol) and you made a funny metaphor about my long posts that you thought I enjoyed too much right, like someone who just likes to hear themselves talk and likened them to me trying to suck my own cock right? Well it really did the job UM and what probably made it the most effective was that you did it in so few words. After all my wordy post you were able assert your dominance over me in one short pithy little insulting post. Well played sir. Because I’m just a new freshman in your eyes right? Hi Dutch. Really it’s all in fun from me with a little ol fashion ribbing on the new guy from one anonymous poster to another. Everyone in here is anonymous to me except my bro and his bro-in-law so don’t take anything I say to heart unless you started it which you clearly didn’t, I think. Sometimes it’s hard to tell where your posts are going, hence the sky connection. Also, even though there’s spring ball going on, thanx to the current regime’s outlawing of any real football talk, we’re left with meaningless banter tell Sept 1st. So sorry if I hurt feelers. Next time don’t be so damn sensitive

However I did hear Choate and Gregorak were very worried after finally seeing Snead throw and almost got in an accident Friday evening when they were driving back to Bozeman. They were reported to have been visiblely shaken as they exited Washington-Griz Stadium according to the Montana Highway Patrol. There was no further information about the incident.
WARNING this post is off message but I deftly tie it into Griz football to still make it relevant.
MSU has a sophmore fullback named R.J. Fitzgerald who is 5-10, 215, and played in 6 games last year as true freshman. In high school R.J. played fullback and linebacker in footabll and was a team captain along with his childhood best friend. R.J. played guard on his high school basketball team and was also a team captain along with his best friend. R.J. also played catcher in legion baseball and was a team captain along with best friend.
R.J.’s dad is Greg Fitzpatrick from Columbus, MT. Greg was a 4 year Griz letterman who played in the mid 1990’s, and was a memeber of the 1995 national championship team. R.J.’s uncle Jon Fitzgerald also from Columbus was a 3 year letterman for the Griz in the late 1990’s. R.J. grew up in a dyed-in-the-wool Griz family and spent countless Saturdays at Washington-Grizzly Stadium with his grandfather, father, uncle and his best friend. Growing up R.J. regularly attended Griz summer camps along with his best friend. As school children R.J. and his best friend would constantly pretend that they were playing both football and basketball for the Griz depending on the season. During R.J.’s junior year of high school the Griz started to actively recruit him. R.J. made arrangements with the Griz for a campus visit during his senior year. Greg and R.J. drove to Missoula on the weekend of R.J.’s on campus visit. When Greg and R.J. arrived on campus they were told that there must have been a mix up because R.J.’s visit was actually scheduled for the following weekend and they should comeback then. Greg told the Griz recruiter that next weekend R.J. had a conflict with his basketball team and couldn’t come back the following weekend. Greg was told that there was no one available because everyone else was tied up with other recruits who were visiting that week. Greg suggested that they shorten the visit and just meet with the position coach, maybe tour the campus and the stadium and then have dinner with the other recruits and coaches and then they would drive home and not stay the weekend. Greg was told that it just wasn’t possible and they should really try to return the following weekend. Greg was getting frustrated and could not understand why something couldn’t be worked out. Unbelievably the recruiter Greg was dealing with was unaware of who he was or his connection to the program. Greg and R.J. left campus and drove the 3.5 hours home that night. Greg was enraged by the time they got home. He could not understand why the Griz would treat him and his son like they did. It made no sense. Greg contacted MSU about recruiting R.J. and scheduled a visit.
R.J. then made his on campus visit to MSU along with his best friend who was being highly recruited by MSU. It is pretty common for schools to recruit 2 players who are high school teammates and also friends and will offer both recruits in order to get the more highly regarded recruit to commit. This can be effective but the recruiter must be able to connect the dots and understand the history and relationship between the recruits. It also helps to know about any family connection the recruit has to the program. In this case the Griz did not do their due their diligence and MSU did and as a result R.J. lined up with his best friend in the MSU backfield during the 2017 season.
And that is the story about how the Griz managed to completely ruin a relationship with a former Grizzly great and miss out on recruiting his son and his son’s best friend, Troy Andersen. Smh.

This sad story is unfortunately very true. Greg has a '95 NC ring and John a '01 ring. This whole event not only ruined UM's relationship with Greg; it ruined it with the whole family. A family of teachers/ coaches. Only John still owns any Griz gear, which he may wear again now that the staff was changed. I asked father Bob to the EWU game last year along with his best friend, and he said he never intended to set foot on campus again. One of Greg and John's sisters is my grandson's 4th grade teacher; the home room is now a bobcat shrine. The former staff did more damage than just losing the key games.Dutch Lane said:

I didn’t realize that John was on the 2001 team. That just adds to the degree of angst over this story. I feel bad for griz nation for losing R.J. and Troy, but I feel awful for Greg and John. Two brothers who both played on national championship teams, how rare is that, which is something I’m sure they cherished and gave them a lifelong connection to the university. I don’t know how this could have been handled any more poorly by the Griz. It seems strange that any staff would not know about and cultivate any and every connection that every former player would have to a program. I think that’s like a pipeline to future players and their progeny. It would be simple to keep a data base with what I would consider pretty important information in a state the size Montana with all of the legacy players. The other most striking take away from this for me is the fact that Dillon’s fullback and quarterback from their state championship team lined up the following year in MSUs backfield as true freshman. That is just so unprecedented. There is no question that R.J. could have and should have played for the Griz. Coulda woulda shoulda can’t let it faze me anymore. Hope to never see anything like this happen again. I know that Bobby understands the importance of these relationships and actively cultivates them like he should. Thnaks
I thought the same thing, but I don’t think he had a preference. Just the fact he played in 6 games as a true freshman I’m sure he could have played somewhere on the Griz roster like linebacker or special teams or who knows probably running back as well. As a U of M grad this just made me cringe and want to apologize to the Fitzgerald family. Thanks

I was of the understanding that Troy Anderson was a state ag commit regardless of recruiting process given family connections. Is that incorrect? Regardless, not treating the son of a Griz family member like royalty, even if there was no intention to make an offer, is unforgivable.
