Waded Cruzado Announces her Retirement

I would say most employees of public institutions in this State think they are underfunded. This includes all of our educational institutions.

Also, I think you are selling the BOR and President Cruzado very short. My opinion.

So you think that’s okay to round UP to 17k?
A “record” barely over 16k but you round up.
Not sure if that math stupidity is from your MSDUi education or just being extremely misleading once again

Any intelligent business person would know that it is best to invest in opportunities friendly to the elected as did the Canadian CEO of Goosehead Insurance and his 100 million dollars. Others did as well.
Despite being Governor of all Montana, Governor Gianforte saw to it that his foundation dollars went solely to MSU instead of to the Montana University System.
Big Sky Ski area and the Yellowstone Club are major draws to the area and Cruzado benefited.
and I suspect the television series, Yellowstone, has been a draw as well.
Is she a great leader? I have read negative comments from students at MSU that say differently. The typical complaints are that she stays in her office and tends to come out into the campus only when there is a chance for publicity or a photo op.
If she was so dedicated to MSU, then why did she go to the BOR and successfully get a raise when she was presented an opportunity to go elsewhere? Money talks.
As I said, Waded Cruzado came into the right place and the right time and rode that wave for all its worth.

In general, I agree with your broad assesssment, though the Gianforte foundation doesn't contribute solely to MSU - It's about 3 to 1 MSU over UM. Foundations cast a wide net and the governor's donations to the two universities aren't making or breaking either.

The liberal arts school vs engineering stuff has been a crutch for Main Hall. In the worst of UM's spiral, I charted the university's enrollment decline compared to other flagship state universities and liberal arts schools. UM did worse than average on both counts. Enrollment was decling at liberal arts colleges, but Montana's decline was among the worst.
Also, liberal arts at MSU is doing much better than at Montana. MSU isn't cutting FTEs in liberal arts.

If you view yourself as living in Bozeman now, that's fine with me. My immediate family has lived in Bozeman for 65 years, my aunt/uncle and family for over 75 years, my stepdad taught at MSU for several decades, another relative teaches there now, many of our family graduated from MSU, including a bunch in the 50's, and I used to live there. But I don't view myself as living there.

I consider myself part time now. Still very active in community and MSU. I know your family has a long history. They have been great Bobcat supporters.

Yes, I used 17,000 as starting the Fall semester in 2023 it was 16,978. I expect with the start of school for 2024 it will be about the same. You chose the Spring semester number. That’s ok. Over a course of a school year, it probably averages somewhere in the middle. Don’t see this as extremely misleading lol😂

But also being able to successfully ride the wave of right opportunity is a skill itself. Many people don’t have the identification skills or skills to not mess up a good thing. Cough Engstrom Cough.

Holy crap, Mr Misleading, why don’t you pick up your tiny goal posts and move them where ever you want?
You initially said if you took a survey now “with 17,000 students” (not a year ago). You were the one who said there were 17k students now but the latest numbers show you were way off, and now you are reaching back and lying to cover your tracks.
That’s super misleading.

Students have already enrolled for the 2024 Fall semester. So, if I took the survey now it would be close to the 17,000 number. Maybe even more. You are the Chubby Checker of egriz the way you twist things around. Keep trying Chubby!

Alright, here's the thing: You asserted that 99% of people would think a "retired" president, whose tenure ended amid scandal, was great. When people started calling BS and citing examples, you got defensive and started talking about enrollment. It's OK to admit that she fucked up in handling the criminal arrests of three FB coaches on her watch, and also racked up the most federal investigations of any Montana institution of higher education. It's OK to admit it. She's gone.

I did not get offensive at all. i gave an opinion as to the result if there were to be a survey. I stand by that opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. Some of you on here have your take or opinion and that is fine. .
