Am I the only one that would prefer to compete for a true national championship over watching the Griz play teams of the likes of NM State?

No you’re not. There’s nothing enjoyable about playing in the famous Idaho potato bowl year after year. Haters gonna hate.

In a rational (Hah!) world, NMSU would simply drop football altogether. There are plenty of other NCAA-approved sport they could sponsor to keep their D-1 status. Even when we got our graduate degrees there (back mumbly-mumbly years ago), the Aggies were mostly crap in football ... and they've gone downhill since.

However, do not downplay the bowl game in Boise. First of all: Who doesn't like potatoes? Even vegans gobble them up. But, more to the point, the game packets doled out to the players over there are apparently pretty damn cool ... given the number of high-tech companies with branches in the Boise Valley.

As usual no one knows all the factors going into this decision except its what he and his family believes is best for his future. The guy has given his all for 4 years to the Griz and put his health on the line to career ending injury every snap on the field, snap in practice and scrimmage, and every practice drill. He stayed through a coaching change that uses, for the most part, an offense that passes less than the one for which he was recruited. The "team loyalty" card should be put away on this one.

He is an exciting player and I'm glad I was able to watch performances that elevated the teams' progress way ahead of most expectations.

Any and all bitchers might be well served to read the Serenity Prayer another time or two.

If the fall schedule was on he would be on the field for the Griz. But that ain't the reality.

Don't forget one or two new recruits who may turn out to be exceptional performers just got a hand up in the scholarship chase.

If playing professionally is the goal, my view is that, for the last year, playing at UM for Hauck, with his connections, with Tim Hauck in the NFL, with Marty Morninweg in the NFl, with Colt Anderson in the NFL, with Beers and others as scouts and former scouts, getting to the NFL would be easier from MT. And, I would rather play at MT with my friends and teammates, and try to win a national championship, than play one year for a weak team like Oregon St. I get how he is from Oregon and was snubbed by the Oregon schools. I'm completely fine with him doing what he wants to do, but I wouldn't have ever done that. I never did things like that in my professional life either. I could have make alot more money by hopping around, at time or two, but I wanted to stay with my friends and "team".

I never played high school, college or post-college sports for myself. I played for my team and with my friends. If I'd had an opportunity to transfer to any team in the country, I wouldn't have even considered it. Football is a team sport.

Historically, UM has had lots of players go to the NFL under Hauck. Oregon St. has had 3 players drafted in the past 3 years, all 6th round selections.

Historically, UM has had lots of players go to the NFL under Hauck. Oregon St. has had 3 players drafted in the past 3 years, all 6th round selections.

I guess I never saw where he was picked up by Oregon St..How many Griz players have been drafted in the last 3 years? Where any of them above 6th round? How many
Oregon St players were drafted between 2003 and 2009? I don't recall the beavs being terrible back then but maybe they were. So is he going to Oregon St because you have mentioned Oregon ST 2X now. I worry if it is an Oregon Ducks team or other top ranked school others could follow.Hope that is not the case.

Weighing in I will have to say I agree with PR on this one. We have the makings of a very good football team if it stays together and players don’t jump ship. I admit he is a good (not great) player and it took a lot of players to give him the opportunity to succeed as he did. Like Dalton Sneed and a pretty good running game. Like PR said he has a lot better chance at UM but time will tell I guess. More than likely he’ll end up in the Canadian league. Right now my eyes are on the offensive line. They stay together we will be a force even without TOURE.

Toure was a dominant and great player last year and was poised to do that again. I appreciate we had him when we did. He is getting his degree at UM and moving on to better his life. No one should begrudge that. Like Hauck said he did everything asked of him. I didn’t see anyone complain about the Kicker-Purdy leaving a year early to pursue a job opportunity.
