The real issue with Hauck isn't player misbehavior...

This whole thing is comical. Maybe Yossarian isn't who he says he is, maybe he is. Don't know, don't care. It doesn't change what he originally posted and his opinion on the situation as someone who is obviously a fan of the program at some level and someone that at least as some knowledge. It's obviously not a popular opinion on here so let the witch hunt begin to try and discredit him by any means necessary.

I for one think he made some very good points that are worth taking a step back and thinking about. But I know my opinion doesn't mean anything on here either, Oh well...

He's not a fan at any level. He's a former Kaimin reporter and now J-school professor. His agenda and dishonesty stuck out immediately. Funny that idiots like yourself hook on with dishonest posters like this joker.

Man PR is a savage. Remind me not to piss you off too badly 8-)

Yossarian, you are dishonest and a huge and bad liar.

This is my guess. Kevin Van Valkenberg, UM journalism professor.

://jour.umt.edu/about/faculty/polln ... enburg.php

I'll give you some time to talk me and us out of this conclusion. Is your mom Carol, the longtime Kaimin professor, and dad Fred, the former County Attorney?

It may be time for you to come clean or disappear on egriz. Don't think your football career is going to cut it on egriz. You are prime example of modern day journalistic dishonesty

"Carol is married to Fred Van Valkenburg, the Missoula County attorney. Their son Kevin, a UM J-School grad, worked for 11 years at the Baltimore Sun, then became senior writer for ESPN The Magazine and ESPN.com. "

Well, I didn't want to call him out in public, hence the PMs. I know who I'm going to when I want the dirt on someone. Well at least he was right about playing football, but he said to much - easy to track from there.

Bobby Hauck will be back soon and you will eat your words as you will see strength, stamina, and mental toughness are the core of Bobby Haucks success not traditional momentum. That does help though!I'm just happy our stable of present football players do now have a legit opportunity to get a NC under coach Hauck!!! Go Griz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :)

Here's the egriz I've come to love. Bring up a few issues, disagree with a person or two, all while being civil, and then be called an idiot because it doesn't match up with your opinion. But at least this time you didn't start the reply with "Nope. You're wrong".
Baby steps...

You can spell sycophant but you can’t spell Read?

Or "arbitrarily" miss an article?

Dude is cold-ass busted.

yeah, because none of you guys has ever accidentally spelled a word phonetically, even though you've used it a zillion times in your lives...

the guy actually sounds pretty reasonable, regardless of whether he redshirted under read then played two years under dennehy, or not. i think that is what some of you don't like about him, more than anything.

So it's you, but with an understanding of language, including a shift button that isn't broken?

Nobody pointed out a misspelling that I saw, other than a "beloved" coach's name. And if you bothered to read my prior post, you'd have read that I didn't "necessarily disagree" with the larger point (though I do on some specifics).

Is it then that you figure in your overarching sensibilities, that some of us don't "like" him because he redshirted for Read, and then played for Dennehy? Or was it the two combined?

Joke of a post.

you are reading more into my post than what is there. my points were that 1) not spelling 'read' doesn't mean the guy didn't know or play for him, and 2) "some" people won't like him just because of his reasoning, which seem to be the basis for saying he's lying about being a player, etc, not the misspelling. i just happened to hit the quote on your post because you said he was "cold-ass busted", which he isn't. and no, i didn't read your earlier post. sorry, guess i didn't know that was a requirement for using this board.

You are no doubt a jealous bobcat with big eyes and a "PRETENTIOUS" fan base that dreams of goals far beyond you wildest possibilities!! You are stuck with Choke and a traitor riding a two game win streak and a sub.500 record two years in a row!!! Get a clue will ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You sir, are a treasure. Thank you

Kevin, so did you play for Don Read or not (and was that a lie too)? This blurb says you walked on in 1996. Read stopped coaching in 1995.

"Raised in Missoula, Montana, Kevin Van Valkenburg fostered his passion for sports by reading Sports Illustrated and playing football as a middle linebacker. He walked on to the University of Montana’s team in 1996, but after two years on the field, he hung up his cleats and joined the student newspaper as a sportswriter.

...

He’s now a senior writer for ESPN.com and ESPN The Magazine and spent the Fall 2015 semester as the University of Montana’s Anthony Pollner Distinguished Professor, leading a story-telling class and advising the student newspaper he worked at more than a decade earlier."

"Kevin Vanvalkenburg attended Hellgate High School in Missoula, MT and graduated class of 1996." Mylife.

Kevin, how did you play for Coach Read, who retired in '95, if you graduated from high school in 1996 (and college in 2000)?

You are so dishonest. Lie about aspects of your football career. Lie about being a Kaimin apologist.

Sorry, but you epitomize my view of way too many journalists today.

argh, read my latest above post. Kevin Van V. lied about playing for Coach Read, and also lied about being a Kaimin apologist. Do you have the honestly and integrity to admit that he did that? He misspelled Read's name because he never played for Read.

He is completely biased about Hauck and the Kaimin reporter/Hauck matter. He also appears to have lied about the Kaimin having multiple witness accounts, on the record, about the Johnson/Swink matter. I recall the article. They had one witness, who I was told was completely drunk, who said one of the players kicked the kid.

I assume you are still a professor. Do you condone ad junct professors and journalists lying like this poster just did? I can't imagine that you do.

He later came back in the thread, and said he was recruited by Read, but didn't play for him.

And I didn't say I played for Read. He did recruit me though. He was the coach when I committed to the Griz. Absolutely consider him my coach. Love the man.

Look you guys can figure it out, and I'm sure you will, and if you want to attack me, that's fine. I'm who I say I am. I care deeply about this program. I'm emotionally invested in its success. I don't think Hauck should return as coach, but if he's a good coach and he's learned from everything, I'll support him.

But yes, you said he walked on.

Here's the Yossarian for Catch-22.

"Yossarian may be a good friend, a lively companion, even a lovable scamp. But he is no hero and would not want to be one. In contrast, the captain is not endowed with great strength, ability or natural beauty. He is of common birth and certainly does not believe that the gods are with him. As a warrior, he would just as soon be a civilian. Yossarian considers concepts like "courage" and "heroism" to be foolhardy at best and deadly in the end. Initially, the only cause he is devoted to is his own survival; he needs to grow and develop as a character before he thinks of others. He loves women, or at least sex, much more than fighting. Victory, for Yossarian, would be a free ticket home. The Captain can be cunning and clever, but he is not a man of action so much as a man of avoidance. He worries a lot and freely admits to being a coward. Yossarian prefers life over any attempt at glory.

Yossarian does grow and change as a character, but he is always an antihero. Early in his military career, while stationed at Lowery Field, Colorado, in 1942, he discovers the joy of malingering and the refuge of the hospital. He fakes appendicitis, avoiding training as he begins a long, loving relationship with hospital life. A helpful English physician suggests that Yossarian should fake a liver ailment rather than appendicitis, the former being much more difficult to diagnose and treat."

No, this is what he said originally, when asked

Playerrep: "Who was your coach?

Post by Yossarian3345 » Tue Nov 28, 2017 6:19 pm

Reed and Dennehy."

The question was not who recruited you.

Are you going to say he wasn't/isn't a Kaimin apologist too, which he denied? Jeez, I can't believe how dishonest some of you are.

Player Rep, do you yell at all of the neighbor kids when they step foot on your grass?
Why are you so angry? I get you don’t like what the op posted and think he’s a liar. Fair enough, but damn. Let it go.

PR Good for you for calling him out. I think we all realize Bobby made some mistakes the last time he was here(Show me someone who hasn't right) I don't mind reading about them if they are facts, but honestly there was so much in that article that wasn't the truth. Feels deeply about the program, if that's true at least be honest in what you write. Easy to see he feels deeply about his agenda.
