The Griz only lost by 5...

If the coaches don't matter, someone explain ohio state to me. Struggling team, new staff...and scadoosh! Unbeaten in two years.
NDSU also. Didn't they go 3-9 in 2009? In 2010 semi finals, and we all know about 2011 & 12. But I'm not sure when Bohl got there. I thought I seen 2008. ??

Bohls has been there many years. prior to the National championship he had three years of losing seasons or 4 - 4 in conference play. In 2006 despite 10-1 Ranked 5th, they didn't go to the playoffs (Both Montana Schools did)

Given whats been said on eGriz about our coaching staffs/records. Bohls wouldn't have made it here. Especially considering he was handed keys to a cadillac

FWIW NDSU has set the bar for FBS coaches has has an 8 year contract worth a hair over 350K/year. Also in that contract is a small little rider that his assistant coach have to be paid in the top 10% of FBS salaries (for the same job)

Like it or not we are damn lucky to have the coaches we have and have had in the past. We will likely never retain a successful coach beyond a few years.

Yeah that was ridiculous. Seems that they were so damn stubborn with their original game plan that wasn't working and seemed as if they didn't have a Plan B. Or maybe that was Plan B but engaged it to late. Still stupid no matter how it went down. Yeah Canada broke free once for a 28 yard TD but not much happened after that with the run attack.

The easiest way to keep defenses honest is to mix up the Gameplan...
Wrong

The easiest way to keep defenses honest is to execute the plays you are given to run.

We haven't been doing that.

WRONG

The easiest way to keep defenses honest is to RUN PLAYS THAT THE DEFENSE DOESN'T KNOW YOU ARE GOING TO RUN.

We haven't been doing that.

Seems to me I remember an opposing coach recently saying he thought the offense was very difficult to prepare for because we could run 6-8 different plays from the same "set"...

That would be true IF they couldn't penetrate our line at will.....................

Well that's not a function of "knowing what play we're running"...completely different issue.

Oh, oops. I thought that article I read said that it was fairly recent that he was let go from Nebraska.

"Running plays they know you are going to run." That damn Vince Lombardi wouldn't have lasted very long in Grizville.

To me it wasn't the losing by 5 that bothers me....it's the getting down by 25 in the 2nd half that bothers me that NECESSITATES a miracle comeback like that...

I partially agree. While the O needs to execute, scheme-wise the coaches are stacking the deck against the O by being stubborn with the run

I can tell you that 3rd and long for the opposing teams make me cringe after the EWU game.
Especially now that the Griz are 12th in conference in passing defense...

... to the #3 team in the Entire Nation. And a penalty costed them the game. It's not as if the Griz rack up penalties every game. A game got away from them. It happens. And in the last two games they had to play catch up instead of jumping on top of them and not letting them up. The Griz let them up and they took off... Til the 4th quarter. Take away the penalty and they tore them a new asshole 28-0. But it didn't go down that way cuz a hand got 4" to high. Don't forget, we're talking about the #3 team in the nation, that carries the #1 passer in the nation and the Griz hung with them and put it to them in "throw down" time. I'm gonna stick to the NAU game as a wtf game because it happened in 2011 and we all remember that team. 2012 coulda been a totally different season with JJ. I say throw the 2012 stats out the window. The Griz were playing with an arm tied behind their back.
Over the last 4 games JJ stats:

EWU: Final 37-42
26/44, 349 yds & 4 TDs

CP: Final 21-14
22/39, 242 yds & 2 TDs

UCD: Final 42-7
12/20, 163 yds & 2 TDs

PSU: Final 55-27
12/24, 203 yds & 4 TDs

Now I could sit here all day and I can't see a pattern. The Griz aren't prone to penalties or turnovers. Maybe there isn't any patterns.

This isn't a bad team. When they bare their teeth and get after it they can tear teams up. I'm convinced it was a rare penalty that cost the game. Say what you will but 5 points against the #3 team isn't bad, and a costly penalty is what I'm sticking to.

GREAT POST. We did only lose by 5 to the mighty #3 team in the country. I am shocked that we moved down in the polls. We should have at least stayed at #10 or even moved up a spot or two because we almost beat them. The loss was only by 5. Damn voters. Don't they realize that EWU was #3 and we came really, really close. If not for getting down 42-17 we would have beaten them. I mean, come on, their QB is the top in all of FCS and torched us for 6 TD's and was named National Player of the Week. How were we supposed to compete and win. The fact that we only lost by 5 should mean something!!!!!

You need to learn to deal with the facts. UM lost to EWU by 5 points--42-37. The poll voters moved UM down 2 slots, from 12 to 10. They must not have thought to much of the loss. UM is 6-2. Deal with it. I suppose you'll continue being a jerk, though.
