I forget which players they were and who was coaching, I thought one of the players was a transfer tight end that got a DUI in the off-season, maybe one of you folks in the know could tell me who it was and if I am right. I dont care who App has on the field, all I care is that the Griz are gonna be across from App and they will make us proud!

Jerry is one of those coaches that protects his players and keeps punishments in house. Unless a player gets kicked off the team, all we're told about a suspension is that it was a "violation of team rules". That was the line fed to us last year during the sexual assault escapade, even though it was an open secret.
I'm not a fan of this move, especially on Thursday. It does reek of a "win at all costs" mentality. It's kind of like how Texas A&M's coach suspended players for their opener vs La Tech and when the game was moved to October, they were still suspended for that game but fine to play this week vs Florida.

App State had a sexual assault escapade as well?

Short of it is that four players plus another were accused of sexual assault on an intoxicated female in mid-September last year. Then another female came forward who claimed she was assaulted in the spring by the same players. The players were suspended indefinitely for "violation of team rules", came back for one game in what had to be a miscommunication between the DA, the school and the coaches about the case and then re-suspended for good. Eventually after a mistrial due to clerical error, the student court found them at fault and they were given the minimum sentence of 8 semesters banned from campus. The DA declined to press charges on the spring case due to the inability to collect evidence and and then later declined in the original case, although the reasons were never clear (she may not have wanted to go through with it as she had withdrawn from school by that point).
Again, that's the SHORT version. In the end this led the university to overhaul it's sexual assault case training and start mandatory seminar for all athletes about handling campus life among other things. All the players involved in last year's saga have moved on. One is in the CFL and another is starting at Colorado State under grad school transfer rules.

Every player involved has been permanently kicked off the team.
PTGrizzly said:Can't believe this is happening. Getting to pick and choose which games a player is suspended for is bullshit. Defeats the purpose of disciplining a player. I would be disappointed if we ever went this route.

...unless Moore is less!

And some thought UM's one quarter suspension was unique. Also, announcing a two-game suspension through the Montana game, and then deciding to do something else? App St poster hasn't heard of this? Hum? I now see the linked article. App St coach must be worried about the game to do something like that. Wouldn't happen or fly at Montana.
S#%^ is getting crazy when I agree completely with PR. App St creating and jumping through their own loopholes. Just lost quite a bit of respect for Appy and yeah I said Appy.
