Suspension lifted for ASU's Price & Lott

How can anyone be pissed about this..I am not 100% sure on this, but I thought a couple of years ago that some Griz players had been suspended at the start of the season but did not serve the suspension until a midseason game against Northern Colorado or some team like that. I forget which players they were and who was coaching, I thought one of the players was a transfer tight end that got a DUI in the off-season, maybe one of you folks in the know could tell me who it was and if I am right. I dont care who App has on the field, all I care is that the Griz are gonna be across from App and they will make us proud!

I prefer a fair fight to all this making excuses after the game crap

It will be interesting talking to Tye regarding the adjustments he is going to make because of this change of heart. Had Moore been a real "sport" he would have announced this awhile back not when the Griz planes about to takes off. Goes to show you that Moore knows more than we think. Pretty low blow if you ask me. Its not so much he coddled them but his timing in doing it. What a putz! Guess appy having home field isn't enough for them. Can you imagine if we did this the day before Griz/cat.

The Griz can't control what Moore and App St decide to do they can only control themselves. Some comments by my fellow Griz fans on this topic sound like "excuse making" before the game is already played. I say Griz are up to the challenge whether or not Price & Lott are on the field, looking forward to another UM/App St classic! It is a strange way to carry out a suspension but it is what it is, us moaning about it won't change Moore's decision. If the Griz win it will be a non issue anyway. If the Griz lose it should still be a non issue as Moore apparently has more respect and is worried about the Griz more than The Citadel.

I had heard about the "2 in 4" deal days ago so I kind of knew this would happen.

Jerry is one of those coaches that protects his players and keeps punishments in house. Unless a player gets kicked off the team, all we're told about a suspension is that it was a "violation of team rules". That was the line fed to us last year during the sexual assault escapade, even though it was an open secret.

I'm not a fan of this move, especially on Thursday. It does reek of a "win at all costs" mentality. It's kind of like how Texas A&M's coach suspended players for their opener vs La Tech and when the game was moved to October, they were still suspended for that game but fine to play this week vs Florida.

App State had a sexual assault escapade as well?

Just to be 100% clear though, these two players had NOTHING to do with the sexual assault scandal. Not a fan of how it was done either but just wanted to put that out there. If the reason I heard for the suspension is accurate, it is a very minor infraction. Not that it makes it right but just wanted to make sure the two separate situations don't get thrown together.

As bigkid said, the timing is what bothers me most. If the '2 of 4' rule is there, fine. Kind of a stupid rule but it is what it is. He should have announced on Sunday-Monday that these guys were going to play.

I honestly don't think it's a huge deal, and we've had some strange punishments (or lack thereof) used by our previous coaches, so any Griz fan that's super pissed should keep a little perspective.

That said, I am disappointed in some of the fans on your message board that insist this is good because it doesn't punish the players who did nothing wrong, and they get to play when they're needed more. No, it definitely should punish the other players. Their absence should punish the whole team. That's the whole point of suspensions and sending a message to the players. All of them. What message does it send to suspend them, but then pull it back and say "well, we really need you now".

I think we'll still beat you, even with these two. Hopefully this gives our team a little more motivation. And it's definitely not something that's going to make me lose respect for App or anything.

It's just not the kind of thing I expected of Moore.

Short of it is that four players plus another were accused of sexual assault on an intoxicated female in mid-September last year. Then another female came forward who claimed she was assaulted in the spring by the same players. The players were suspended indefinitely for "violation of team rules", came back for one game in what had to be a miscommunication between the DA, the school and the coaches about the case and then re-suspended for good. Eventually after a mistrial due to clerical error, the student court found them at fault and they were given the minimum sentence of 8 semesters banned from campus. The DA declined to press charges on the spring case due to the inability to collect evidence and and then later declined in the original case, although the reasons were never clear (she may not have wanted to go through with it as she had withdrawn from school by that point).

Again, that's the SHORT version. In the end this led the university to overhaul it's sexual assault case training and start mandatory seminar for all athletes about handling campus life among other things. All the players involved in last year's saga have moved on. One is in the CFL and another is starting at Colorado State under grad school transfer rules.

That's pretty messed up. Johnson got the ax for far less (with the facts released thus far) and the App players got nothing more than a slap on the wrist. Crazy.

Every player involved has been permanently kicked off the team.

Kicked off the team and out of school without legally being convicted is a "slap in the wrist"?

Surely you jest

if coach moore is willing to do this to try and beat the griz, i would be surprized if he doesn't burn the red shirt on the freshman running back that is supposed to be the a great talent...i don't think any of this really matters in the long run, in football you win with the team you have that week....we will be just fine and have them right where we want them....ha !....go griz !!

Can't believe this is happening. Getting to pick and choose which games a player is suspended for is bullshit. Defeats the purpose of disciplining a player. I would be disappointed if we ever went this route.

So you were upset about the way the Montana kids suspension for the DUI was handled last year

Seems suspicious to me. A policy of suspension for 2 of the first 4 games? That's innovative, and doesn't sound like it would or should fly. And some thought UM's one quarter suspension was unique. Also, announcing a two-game suspension through the Montana game, and then deciding to do something else? App St poster hasn't heard of this? Hum? I now see the linked article. App St coach must be worried about the game to do something like that. Wouldn't happen or fly at Montana.

S#%^ is getting crazy when I agree completely with PR. App St creating and jumping through their own loopholes. Just lost quite a bit of respect for Appy and yeah I said Appy.

LOL!
