Stitt Crew vs Hauck Crew - what is noticeable

Hauck has a bunch of guys on his team that Stitt recruited, while Stitt had no guys that Hauck recruited.

Stitt DID adapt his schemes, although more out of necessity than by design. His scheme just really didn’t “work”, and he didn’t have the people he thought he needed to run it correctly and thus added blocking “H” backs, almost NEVER used the infamous “jet” sweep he was a famous for, etc.
Ironically enough, Stitt’s offense would have worked MUCH better with a QB like Sneed who could actually run.
Other than that I agree with the vast majority of your post. Love the way this team plays. Every single play.

That Stitt never really ran that fly sweep is a head scratcher to me. I also think that Semore’s D was flawed in that it miss-utilized players and wasn’t as disciplined as Baer’s is. I agree that the 1/11, sure tackling, party on the pile defense that we are seeing now with the players that Semore had last year is kind of telling.
Looking back on it, and I am not a Stitt fan, I am beginning to think Stitt bit off more than could chew in being both head coach and offensive coordinator. I think Bobby's attention to detail is less compromised because he has the ability and the time to evaluate all aspects of the team each week. I think this also makes him the elite ST coach he is. This staff is far more experienced than the one Stiff put together and appears to be far more disciplined, which shows up on the field. The team seems more balanced on both sides with everyone knowing and doing their job play in play out.
Don't get me wrong, could not be happier that Bobby is back. Stitt was unlucky at Qb, his starters all got hurt, losing one that could have been amazing. I think he saw good talent just did not know what to do at this level. Kinda thought what Bobby is doing now is what Stitt was going to show us and never did constantly enough. I think Stitts biggest issue, he did not get what Griz football really is about.

The idea that those teams gave up or rolled over is far from the truth and last years team really did buy in and trust their coaching staff. However you did and others did mentions some things that are very different and so far...successful.
1. Coaching Adaptation, Some say Stitt never changed his scheme...some say he did. What the truth from my eyes is...its a little of both. While Stitt did change his scheme at times when he had no other choice. If we were running our normal offense the scheme was very similar and allowed D cords. to target plays and adapt schemes to cover. Ty G said last year that he much rather would face Stitt than other coaches because he knew what we were going to do and he could plan for it. Stitt believed that if we ran his scheme and did it correctly it could not be stopped. Maybe if all things were perfect it couldn't but there were times we saw other teams adapt and shut us down while we continued to pound our heads into the ground. BH on the other hand has been allowing of Rosie to develop and change game plans day week in and out. He has been creating formations and plays on the fly each week adapting to the Defense and so far it has been successful. Talking to players, we often have have packages with 5-10 plays instead of packages with 30-40 plays. We are also utilizing a large amount of RPO which puts the game into the hands of the QB in live sequence. Stitt's offense was built upon adapting at the line. calling one play and the QB checking between 2-4 others to deliver a result. It is an interesting change but I think defenses have a much harder time trying to adapt to multiple formations and multiple player keys rather than just trying to adapt to the same formations and different plays. Ironically both BH and Stitt mentioned how difficult it is to play teams with multiple style offenses because you really have to prepare on defense and trust your men. The catch to what we do is...sometimes it is hard for players to do a lot of different things correctly rather than a few things really well. So far this year has been more successful sustaining offense and allowing our defense to play ahead and not be concerned about being on the field 75% of a game.
2. Player focus- Bobby doesn't mess around at practice. Bobby doesn't ask his players to stay in every single play...he demands it and if you don't want focus he will pull you for anyone that will. Semore especially had this issue the last few years. He just didn't get the players to focus on the right things and even a lot of the time had issues getting play calls in fast enough for players to get set and read their keys. I think the system was flawed and although we brought a ton of pressure some of the times we were bringing players that weren't even supposed to blitz or that didn't know their 1/11. Don't get me wrong, Stitt and Co preached focus in practice and would get on players about their 1/11 but I don't think the system or the coaching gave them their best chance do that. This year I know BH has gone to coach B on the sideline and told him to get plays in quicker. a few times this year he had slow play calls and the players raised their hands in frustration and I had all the flashbacks to every game under Semore. BH addressed that already and I can only remember a hand full of times since the first game that that has happened now...vs half the time the last few years.
3. Team atmosphere. It is also fun to watch this team rally to the ball and include themselves in the whole game. In the past few years we have seen players come off the field alone and go to the back of the sideline and just hang out there while the other parts of our team are competing on the field. This year BH and staff have been pushing players to run on and off. Celebrate TOGETHER after we make a hit or tackle or stop...or touchdown. Watch the sideline...players travel up and down the field with the plays and the sideline is into the game. So many times...especially on the road I used to watch the sidelines be flat. offense hung out with offense and defense hung out with defense. While that is what an NFL sidelines looks like...this is not the NFL and I think it is important to see the whole team engaged into plays on both sides when they are not in a meeting or getting treatment. Colter noted what a difference it was to see the griz rally to the player making the play not only to finish the play but also to increase intensity and have fun.
4. speaking of FUN. These players are enjoying playing the game of football. I honestly think we lost some of the players that weren't having fun this summer/spring. These players are playing hard because they want to and you can tell when they win...they expect to win...but they sure enjoy the victory. Stitt teams just seemed like they were going through the motions some times. Griz Cat last year...I remember talking to the friends around me saying. Man it looks like we are just miserable being here. Where is the excitement to being in a hostile environment. Some call it Swagger...some (BH) doesn't. When on the road embrace the noise...embrace the challenge of everyone being against you. Then put your head down and get the work done. Stitt on the road consistently was preaching togetherness and being a whole team but never from my eyes did it look like it was working. @UNI was last time I saw a Stitt team embrace the road and having fun.
There are many other differences between these coaching staffs but those are the major ones I see playing out on the field. Sure I think the experience from the staff helps players a lot as well. I know the prep week in and week out is way different but its hard to relate those things to exact results on the field or exact moments of recognition. I think BH and this staff has the ability to deliver results quicker based upon what they are doing currently than what Stitt was trying to do. Stitt his first year adapted whole game schemes way more his first year than years after. It will be interesting to see what BH and co do as they start to get their players in the system. Will they be as multiple in years to come or will they start to build "their style".

I second that! I’m loving the heart, fight, and the giant chip on the shoulder of this team. This team plays with an edge that Stitt’s teams never had. No knock on Stitt, just not his style. I think Hauck’s style fits in with the tradition and mentality of the Griz much better. Go Griz!
