Sick, Nasty, Unbelievable! THE DUNK

My nominee for best Griz dunk ever goes to . . .

Derrick Pope's rim-breaking dunk at nationally ranked Idaho in 1983. The place went from ear-splitting loud to total silence in one dunk (with the exception of a few gasps of "oh sh*t"). It took them about 30 minutes to fix the rim. Then the Griz went on to an upset victory.

That was by far the best dunk I ever watched on the radio. I believe Krystkowiak was there to witness that dunk.

I gotta agree with that one, and there have been some great ones. Crawford's was more recent is all, I wish someone would put together a highlight tape.

That was Nate Covill. I think the BB team poster the next year had Nate with a basketball rim in his hand :P

Nate's the only player I ever saw dribble the ball off his foot while shooting a freethrow.

Why the hell did I get slammed by two people for my post? All I said was Slim has had some unreal dunks...and honestly, yes, he should be able to dunk, but he's had some that if it were an NBA guy, the SportsCenter opening montage would include it (he had two alley-oops off crappy passes that should NEVER have been dunked).

It sucks that I can come here and give props to Criswell, and some dickie has to bring up our gym (of which we are moving back to Holt thank you), or some fight. Honestly, that was a couple of players having a problem, and it's over (turns out the gunshots were UNRELATED thankfully).

Anyways, I wanted to give Criswell props...he's the ONLY visiting player against ISU I actually sent a note to in my lifetime (a congratulatory note for his 1000th point).

For the two folks who gave me shit, don't force intelligent people who enjoy conversing with most of the Griz fans here to leave because of your ignorance. In the end, I root for ISU during the season, and then for whoever is in the dance (and yes, I went to Boise and cheered on Montana, and they played well).

So to those two...bite me. My apologies to the other Griz fans here who are cordial and enjoy the intelligent conversation...

I don't know which part of your post is more pathetic. That you clame to be intelligent and an ISU fan, or that you turn your back on your team like that. All I was saying was that Slim has no place in a discussion about the best "Montana" dunk ever. My apologies to you..... Captain Sensitive.

this is actually the second pic i have seen over hear with the "N" word on them. is that legit over here? i'll admit i am semi-offended. i dont like to ever see it, but at the same time, i am a guy who kind goes with the flow. but i am surprised that that flies here.

ILC, you sumed it up quite well.
No need for Potie mouth humor. :naughty:

The athletic department has been pretty tight-lipped, but folks saw Paul Bubb the AD scouting Westminster's Tommy Connor, and a CBS Sportsline report linked us with some guy named Morganthayler, who is the coach at Minnesota State.

I've heard some other names, mostly DII head coaches with previous DI assistant experience, so I think that's where they are leaning. ISU's last two coaches were top DI assistants from big programs (Oliver and Herb Williams) and they both had losing records, and they were here 16 years combined, so I think Bubb is looking in a different direction.

Hell, it worked out with Joe Glenn and you guys....if we could find half of a Joe Glenn for our basketball team, we'd be sitting pretty.

Arizona, Michigan State, Illinois, Duke, all have had a lot of assistant coaches get head jobs and be very successful. I don't know what kind of package ISU can put together but I would think the NCAA Final Four will be a great place to shop for a coach, most all of them go as they get tickets.

Lighten up buddy, its just a word on a message board. If you got offened off of that then I would hate to see you in real life. Not a diss, but im just saying that you should lighten up!

Yeah, there is nothing malicious intended through my 'artwork'.

When you boil them down, words are just vibrations in the air that may or may not cause a certain network of neurons to light up in your brain.

The more we censor a word, the more magical power it gives that word to hurt feelings.

I don't think your intent has much to do with it. The easiest way to ensure that you don't offend anyone, would probably be to refrain from using one of the most offensive words in the world.

What word would that be?

Sorry Mung, but I don't understand how affending someone with the "N" word is for their good. Just because it's in a rap song does not make it ok. And respecting someone's request to not use a hurtful word is not censorship. It's called manners. The more people throw the "N" word around the more ignorant people think that it's ok. I'm not saying you're ignorant, and I don't think that you meant anything bad by it, but that is one of a very short list of words that I think it's ok for all of us to be P.C. about.

umm whats the word im looking for....oh right

NIGGA!! the context in which mung used the word was not meant to be deroggatory towards black people it was meant to be funny and i thought it was...
