Then why did he associate it with a crime? He could have said "stole the ball" that would have at least had something to do with basketball. Instead he associated it with a stereotype and that is the "context" in which the word appeared.
 
Some of you guys who think using a slur is permissable if the intent wasn't to offend anyone need to spend some time in the real world. I understand where you are coming from, but your INTENT has nothing to do with whether or not someone actually is offended by it. I'm not trying to police anything, but I have always found this test to work: Would you use the word in question no matter who was around? If the answer is no, then it's best not to say it (or write it). If the answer is yes, then by all means..... But I dont think you would be saying anything like this at, for instance, a club in Vegas Mung.
 
First of all, I doubt whether Mung is a black man. If he is not, I can damn sure guarantee you he would not use that word if he was in a situation where he was the "minority". I know many black people and they do not take kindly to someone who is not one of them using that word. I know Mung likes to be outrageous and perhaps thinks of himself as an Internet version of a "shock jock", however he crosses the line at times in my opinion.
 
I don't know how this thread got so off topic, but to my recollection, wasn't this thread supposed to be about Criswell? Maybe it is just me, but who care's about that word. I know somebody must but, give it a rest. PLEASE!!!

I've seen it about 5 times now. I just keep laughing at the team's reaction. I'm glad that there's no video of our little section going crazy. I'm sure we looked like absolute fools. :laugh:
 
Oh Buddy, did we not look like idiots. But, do I really care if people thought we were weird for our massive celebration?? Not one bit. Like I said I will take partial blame for there not being a clear picture of the dunk, I was shaking the camera man at the time. If I was a horse you could all :deadhorse:. But, since I am not, you will just have to refer to the video.
 
Dunk was electric, most amazing dunk I have ever seen in person. So unexpected and right in #20's face!!! I know me and my friends were jumping around without control for about 5 minutes. Unbelievable

Perhaps you should vent on the person who posted the objectionable stuff, rather than those who are offended by it?
 
I didn't vent. I just stated an observation. Me replying to you is just a continuation to everything that shouldn't be on this thread. If some one is offended by material on a web page or thread, maybe PM the person who wrote the offensive material? Discussion's are good but getting all pissy about what the way one person speaks or writes is no way to go through life.
