I think Vidlak is the guy as QB1, he looked good in spring and I can tell he wants to be a leader. This would be the BEST thing to happen at QB for MT since he is a R-SO and has 3 total years of playing time. Perfect for developing. I’m not as concerned about the receiving core and RBs as we have amazing talent at these positions. And I’m excited for Pease’s brand of offense.
I think Brown could be good, and here’s why. Who was his handler the last 4 years since 19? Rosy. Who called the plays? Rosy. I think the over arching issue is that Kris was used wrongly and put in positions that set him up for failure. He’s not a scrambler, he’s a passer. But he still needs to read the whole field. With Pease at the helm, Kris might be put in better positions to be successful.
Now here’s a theory about why Britt really left, and take this for however you want. Britt was clearly better than I think all of our QBs last year. I think he went against some (not all) plays called in by Rosy because he thought his plays would be better and maybe they worked out better (or not in some cases). When Britt was proved right, Rosy wasn’t happy and he got benched the next game or something, or brown was started over him. This I’m guessing built up and pissed Britt off enough to re-evaluate his options and he decided to leave the program. The offensive fish stinks from the head down and the head was Rosy. I’m not saying Bobby didn’t have a say in it, but now that Rosy has been moved to a different position, Bobby was clearly trying to give Rosy a chance at offense.
For the record, I do agree that playing Brown over McDowell or Vidlak, and similarly last year over Britt is just ridiculous.
