Petition In Support Of Pat Williams

Too bad this isn't football season. You could bring your petition to the first Griz home game, and march up and down the isles shouting your praise of PW, and asking for, yea, demanding signatures in support of him. You could start with the North End Zone. At least you would get a gauge as to the merits of your petition, which you don't seem to be understanding. :butt:

So why not worry about protecting Robin Pflugrads freedom of speech when he stated his support for his player, and then got fired. He all but said that was the precipitating event in his Oregonian interview. Seems like a double edge sword to me.
Exactly.. but, apparently you can only talk bad about players.. If you talk good about them you may get fired.

Thank u all for the great comments and feedback. I actually agree with the majority in their opinion of PW. He over stepped his bounds and there should be repercussions. It was not right for him to label the team as thugs.

What that dolt Williams said has nothing to do with Freedom of Speech. He holds a lofty position, with great responsibility. He can not get by making sweeping and unfounded allegations about one of the schools he is supposed to be leading from the top, without paying consequences.

Can you predict how long a school district superintendent would last if he made similar comments about a high school football team within his district? You can't hide behind the First Amendment when you have a high position in this country.

All good questions, but the big question is WHY IS PAT WILLIAMS STILL ON THE BOARD OF REGENTS?!!!
Where the hell is the oversight? Who can take him out? The man has proven himself to be a disgrace to Montana. If he had talked that way about Montana BEEF or WHEAT, he'd have been sh*t canned long ago. Montana Senate, wake up! Governor Bullock, grow a pair! Get rid of Pat Williams, NOW!

...and don't to lose site of the fact that...
...wazn't flipping off to the independent record...
...he waz talking to the new york gawd damn timezzz...

... 8-) ...

I don't understand why folks get upset when others feel Williams should loose his job or be sanctioned for his rather foul comment on the athletes. All RP did was comment is support of his QB that had not been charged yet and both he and O'day loose their jobs. Double standard lives strong.....

That's incorrect. He's merely a board member, and it's only the board that has any power or responsibility, not the individuals that comprise it.

I will say it again: what Williams said was dumb. But folks are giving him way more power than he actually possesses.

PAT SHOULD BE FIRED. PERIOD. WHAT HE DID WAS WRONG. IF HE WERE IN PRIVATE SECTOR HE WOULD BE TOAST. SINCE POLITICS IS INVOLVED, HE WON'T. SHAMEFUL.
What!?! Aren't you the dude that started this thread and the petition IN SUPPORT of PW? Or did i miss somethin?

Actually the attempt/petition is hoping to accomplish the same. Robin was held accountable for what he was said. As an employee of the UofM he said things he shouldn't have and paid the price. The hope is that Pat Williams will realize the same.

Not a double-edge sword, but just wanting to hold all at the same level of accountability.
