Pease out, Bobby and Stitt are finalists

"Ha. Think that these 3 guys, and the 4th if you want count Sundberg or 5th if you want to include Ingram, are a bit more involved than the egrizzers."

Do you seriously not have a sense of humor? This just dawned on me.

Pease is a top national recruiter for a Tier 1 school. Fog eliminated his narrow window for a visit. Word was starting to get out and Petersen was concerned other schools would use it against them and put pressure on Brent. Pease wanted Haslam to fly out. Haslam wanted to do a phone interview. Pease didn't feel Kent was interested in him. BOR and Engtrom nixed Bobby. One candidate left. Look at the press conference video after Colorado Mines lost their play-off game and see if the guy hiding behind the baseball cap inspires your confidence.

Link?
Link? Do you think that's in writing anywhere? It makes sense...usually AD's fly out to the coaches to show interest and to keep it under the radar to protect the candidates current job. If I were coaching somewhere, I wouldn't fly out to Missoula and risk my current job. Haslam has shown he's minor league. When Woodward hired Petersen...he and Jen Cohen flew down to Boise, met with Peteren at a hotel and had an agreement in 1.5hrs...that's how it's done. Decide who you want and go get them. Not wait for candidates to come to you.

My best info remains that Pease is interviewing this weekend in Spokane and they would be done by Monday but for an added candidate that may push it to the end of the week. Maybe Vigen is back in or Wristen.... A reminder that not every offer gets accepted, even at UM.

Vigen bailed on us and withdrew his interest.

Not accurate.

I was checking for a link because he referenced a press conference video. Is the average joe blow eGrizzer going to be able to pull that up on the ol' Beta Max without an interweb link? :?

I will take his word for it.

You obviously didn't understand my sense of humor. I understood yours.

Go to Colorado School mines football. Click on the story of the play-off loss and the press conference is half way down in the story.

I found the vid on youtube and see that I mis-interpreted Mondayamqb's comment. My answer to his question is no. That guy in the baseball cap does not inspire any confidence in me.

Just like Hauck.....................15-48

Imagine for minute, if years ago, you basically told a co-worker to go fu@k themself. And later you were interviewing for a job with them, as they were your potential new boss. How would that work out for you? Interesting situation.

Just curious. Karma is a bitch......

Also- - I expect all of those who don't get their "preferred" candidate to forfeit any future fund raising to the UM athletic department. With a letter of explanation.

For shit's sake folks. Let the process play out.

Brint, you're wrong here. There is a group of boosters involved with the coaching search. That group, or committee as I previously called it, has now given recommendations to the University. The ball is now in Haslam and Engstrom's court and it is their decision to make.

The several boosters have not been very involved. Don't think they met, or met with, any of the candidates. They were just doing some footwork. They wouldn't have had enough information to make a true recommendation. Many big donor types weighed in with Haslam and Engstrom. Many others have also weighed in.

Correct. Several boosters talked to Stitt via phone call about the position, but did not meet with him personally. The group was to meet with Pease this week but he has not rescheduled his interview trip. I do not know if the group has met with Bobby, but he has several booster's backing for the position.

Everyone in the mini-group probably knows Hauck fairly well. Hauck had most of the largest donor/boosters of athletics backing him. If Engstrom turns down Hauck, it will be a bit awkward for him (and maybe others) the next time he asks one of these guys for $1 million or $10 million. Enstrom did ask one of these guys for $10 million (or more) in relatively recent times.

So, you're saying that Bobby has the backing of the Washington family. Interesting.

He didn't tell him to go f@ck himself, that is an exaggeration. He may have said some blunt and candid words related to a preliminary assessment of the contrariness of his genitals with regard to his claimed gender.

The Washingtons put in a good word for Hauck, but that's no who Engstrom asked for $10 or so million.
