With Hauck you get a coach who maintains programs and is coming off a 15-48 record the last 5 years.

Technically speaking when playing in the BSC you only have to go 2-1 or 3-1 most years against the teams that are above .500. a program like Montana could go uncoached and win 7 games in a weak conference like the BSC. No Co, Sac St, ISU, SUU, ND, NAU and MSU are almost yearly gimmies.

Except the Griz don't play Northern Colorado, Sac, ISU, SUU, ND, NAU and MSU every year in the new cluster f*** conference schedule. If I remember right the only team on your list of gimmes (which definitely has some non-gimme teams on it) that the Griz are guaranteed to play every year is MSU.

I thought we had 2 teams as our every year teams - EWU and MSU.

How many of Hauck's recruits are in the NFL? Intelligent high impact players that have had success at the next level are a HUGE incentive for recruits.
Success builds success. I hope whoever is next is able to do what he did, and as long as he did it. I like being spoiled with several home playoff games every year, and beating the kitties.

I hope Stitt is as good as advertised because....

So...done deal?

If so, I hope he can recruit at this level. That's one big question I had about him. We know for a fact a couple of the other candidates were good (or great) recruiters.

I think a big part of recruiting would be (if Stitts it) which staff would get asked to stay or go. Existing assistants/coordinators etc already have some good connections and know where to look.

Seems like a smart guy though, he'd figure it out.

GrizPony is Pease out of consideration for sure or is it another rumor? I am hoping for the rumor part. I've always considered GrizPDX to be reliable but am still hoping for reconciliation and reconsideration on Brent. He would still be my first choice.

With Stitts reputation among big programs, I would anticipate, in the coming years, he would bring in some potential big time transfers.

I'm exhausted with all these rumors! :|

Yep. EWU wasn't on his list of "gimmies" though. Only one on his list that we play yearly is MSU.

For what it's worth, I personally know Dan Hawkins, and I know he wanted the job. For the life of me, I can't understand why he hasn't been mentioned as a candidate. He was definitely in Missoula last spring at drills. Things like that don't happen by accident. I'm interested to see what you all feel about him as a candidate---even though, by his accounts, it's too late.

Sorry you weren't considered, Dan. Welcome to the board.

Stitt it is....Monday...Gregorak is part of the deal. I may be wrong though.... :thumb:

Stitt is it. Expect an announcement any time between today and Monday. He will apparently retain Ty, Legi, Justin Green and one other coach (not sure who) and will be bringing back Chad Germer. That would be some really nice continuity for the program and will keep guys around (and bring one back) who are good recruiters currently for the Griz. I have not met Stitt but I've heard from many folks he is dynamic, inspirational and good all-around man and coach. He's an offensive guru as we already know, but he will be the head coach and his own OC and will call the plays here himself. To be honest I wasn't really high on him initially but I am starting to get excited about the potential he and his staff will bring to Montana.

Go Griz!!
