Pease/Leipold interested?

I am not saying he isn't a viable candidate, but he is a DIII coach, not DII. The biggest differences aside from the level of competition is DIII does not offer scholarships. Additionally their recruiting rules are much more lax meaning they don't have the same rigid contact limitations we would. Those that badmouth NAIA and the Frontier Conference, and specifically MVD and Carroll should have those same concerns or greater with Coach Leipold.

I agree. Huge difference in Div.III and FCS football.

Wisconsin Whitewater would beat half the teams in the BSC!

Why?

I thought they played with 11 players just like we do, football is football you either know it or you are like most people on eGriz. If you can coach you can coach they no nothing different at DIII than they do at NAIA or FBS.

I would love either guy tho. I think Pease would be my first choice, has a taste of Griz nation, also the biggest college atmosphere in the nation in the SEC, he knows how to prepare for big games! NW connections, good for recruiting, he probably has quite a few kids on the radar already that he knows would consider UM.

I didn't say he wasn't a good coach, I just pointed out there is a lot of differences with paperwork, compliance and recruiting.

Exactly, he can obviously coach football. If he can be that dominant with D3 talent, Imagine what he could do with scholarships and FCS talent.

I also wonder how great of passion and inspiration he would bring to the program after coaching kids that weren't receiving money to play at the school, just for pure love of the game. I think it would be a good thing.

Lets just quit screwing around with all these little fish and get the big dog! He already has enough money...lets get Nick Sabin! Maybe then people will be happy!

Was @ this game. UW-Whitewater is great D3 team and if you can get Leipold, with all due respect to the others noted on the board, including Brent Pease, run - don't walk here to get him. He's the real deal. Up tempo offense, hard-nosed defense, exceptional special teams. Would bring to program back to expectation quickly.

Could you imagine if we did get Leipold now with the announcement of our opening game on ESPN against the Bison!!!! That's a welcome to the FCS haha.....Pease would be already used to that environment.

Ya I really want Leipold...I just think the guy is a great coach, is used to being dominant, and would bring a great brand of football to the program!

I think he would be a great choice too but would need to bring some experienced ncaa div II or I coaches. I also would hope he (or any of the candidates) would keep our current recruiting coordinator, Justin Green. That would be great by me.

Wouldnt a knock on pease is that he's been a good position coach but not much success as an oc?
Yeah he only won a National Championship with the Griz as the "OC" ask anyone that played in 95 and 96. He had an 11 year career in the NFL and has been around a lot of other big programs, he is too experienced to come to Montana..........in theory

I agree, I wonder if he would want to adjust to being in the spotlight constantly tho? He seams like he kinda likes the quiet, shy lifestyle. Being the HC of the Griz is certainly not that.
