Pease/Leipold interested?

Alpha? What is wrong with John Wristen? He is my first choice. Did not see him on your list.

No Baldwin is not the guy along with Kramer.

Brent Pease was a finalist when we got Pflugrad. Not sure what the knock was on him other than he hollers etc.

I don't think there is any chance Wristen is our coach given the program's recent history and current environment.

Not justifying it, but that was a 1999 article. Any information on how the case resolved.

The Post article sounds like the charges were removed from his record after two years if he complied. The incident sounds more bizarre than anything. He doesn't sound like a child abuser or a wife beater. Maybe he he can address the incident straight on and move forward, as he must have many times in the last 15 years.

Wristin has an instructional DVD on coaching special teams for sale on Amazon. There's also a RMAC message board where fans say Wristen could get the UM job because the pay is too lousy to hire up and the Griz are desperate for offense. Funny to read the outside view. Also puts Wristen's current salary at $100k and points out that Montana pay isn't that attractive.

I believe MT-Western. Jeffs wife is from Dillion.

Well since Delaney was at UM-Western in 91-92 I figured it was before Choates time there.

Balwins half teams have been better than just about anybody elses full team. Wonder what he would do with a full team.......................

We would never find out, that is his legacy at Ewu all O, no D and we know how much they love the D in Cheney.

Didn't like hauk cause he never won the big one. Baldwin wins a national title but apparently their team doesn't play enough defense. Just what would make you happy alpha? Never mind, I really don't care.
Baldwin didn't win a NC the refs did and GFY Seabass you are buying the boilermakers.........bitch

I don't disagree with you, though in my book anyone who puts their wife in a headlock loses the benefit of the doubt. I just don't think that continued second chance can happen right here, right now given what has transpired at UM the last four years.

Alpha--I agree with your opinion quite a lot on here so I am interested, who would be your first choice within reason? Pease, Baldwin, someone else?

Why would anyone want Baldwin? He has half a team and has for about 4 years now. They play no defense at all and are pretty undisciplined. He has done nothing but beat up a really really bad conference while Montana has been raped with scandal and bad management.

My short list would be as follows:

1. Brent Vigen
2. Jeremiah Johnson
3. Lance Leipold
4. Brent Pease
5. Jeff Choate

If some shitbag like Baldwin, Paulson or any coach on the current team is hired I am done until the next hire. I will just go golfing in Arizona in the fall instead of watch us slip back to MSU and Ewu more and more. Fu*k that

Would Grizzly Adams be the DC or OC?

My wife has had me in a head lock much of the time and I am still E-Grizzing.

I still like the guy if he has been free of "head-locking" his wife or girl friend then I would hire him. How many good guys are left? He can coach and runs one hell of a program and the incident is off the record.

I have him in my business. So again I would hire him as my head coach!

I meant I would have him (Wristen) in my company working. 15 years ago he made a mistake. It is over. It is similar to not hiring Jordy Johnson 15 years from now......

Understood, and I'm not commenting on if that is right or wrong. Just that I don't think he would be the hire right now given everything.

I don't disagree, now that I know a little more about it. Since the 1999 article, the Denver Post has profiled the guy a couple times and never mentioned the incident.
Wristen applied to be head coach at Eastern Michigan last year and the public there was aware of the 1999 issue and it might have been a deal breaker.
I think it depends on how he handles the incident publicly nearly 16 years after the fact. Does he look the media in the eye acknowledge his fault and explain what he's done in the years since to head in another direction. Is he still married to this woman? Is he involved in his son's life. That son is now going on 20. Will the wife and the son speak to Wristin's character today? Their endorsement could be significant for whatever university considers hiring Wristin.
