The problem is, it backfired. Pflu and O'day were to stay to clean up the mess. Sorry everyone.

A sad day indeed. I'm not sure we will ever know all of the facts, emotions, personal agendas, and pressures brought to bear that made this happen. Who knows right now if it was right, wrong, good for the future of the university or bad for the university? What is certain, however, is that two good men are at home right now with family and hurting big time. Two good men who have given their hearts and souls to the University of Montana. My heart goes out to them and their families.

No one can be happy in this situation except, perhaps, for the Missoulian, Bobcats, a good number of the UM faculty, and, of course, the lawyers. What would be a terrible travesty, in my mind, would be Griz fans not renewing their season tickets, dropping financial support for a much needed facilities improvement project or athletes or coaches leaving the program. To do so would dishonor all students, athletes or not. This is a great university with some of the best and supportive alumni and fans in the nation. Now is not the time to jump ship.

I hate this situation. First I like both Pflu and O' Day. Both have been to my home many times. I have had a drink with each and consider them friends. Further I know Engstrom and his wife and consider them friends also.

Hate is a word I will use to describe my feelings. My wife has said all along that coach Pflu would get the axe over the latest flap concerning the UM and Griz rape charges. I did not see it that way. None of the accused players have been convicted, yet we all know the bad press has caused great harm to our school and athletic program.

Hate, yes I hate it. I hate the fact that we must wait for some statement from Engstrom about the guilt of those fired and the costs to us fans and tax payers. We will be sued. We will pay. Our kids (players) that we love will be in a hell of a turmoil. I hate it!

Yes we will play football again this fall with a new coach and a new AD among others. Life will go on.
I can state this: We will all survive, Griz football is alive and will continue and God bless our new people coming in to take over a raped system! I hate it!

GO GRIZ ############################################################# !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amen to that line!! Never mind the fact that a lot of them wouldn't have the nice office in the nice building and the lecture halls and classrooms that they have their assistants teach the classes they should be teaching themselves in if it weren't for the football program.

Not to mention the "montana" board of regents, which (if I remember correctly) the majority is made up of MSU "regents".

This is truely a Witch Hunt by Royce Engstrom. I hope that man either goes the way of natural causes soon or gets shit canned when UM pays the Millions coming in lawsuits. Tell Both oday and pflu to sue the HOLY LIVING shit out of the University and Engstrom.

I think there is a line between "handle it in house" and "sweep under the rug" that you are missing, Growler1. I don't have the facts on Tru's incident and I would venture to say that you do not as well. As a player it always pisses us off when you fans pass judgment and hang us in front of the whole city before we can even defend ourselves. Are there moments we mess up? Sure, but they do not always require you fans finding out to pass judgment when you don't know what happened. You can call this "sweeping it under the rug" if you want, but that is a misrepresentation. The players are punished, you just never hear about it.

This does not include rapes or the beating of women as those are dealt with according to whatever civil/criminal/student code administrators feel appropriate. However, there was no "criminal culture." No player walked around thinking they could act like a criminal just because Bobby was the coach. Most of us were scared to death of Bobby and acted appropriately. I think you may need to calm down, drink a beer, and watch a sport of some sort. The sun will rise tomorrow.

Best to just ignore Growler1. Probably one of the 2 or 3 least popular guys here. Personally I just laugh at a lot of what he writes, but some will tell you he has very little credibility...although I have no opinion of his "opinions".

I have heard from Alpha on BN and someone else on here, but has anybody actually confirmed any players are gone? The news seems to think that no players have left the team.

I would be pretty suprised if none left. I would be pretty suprised if a fair amount dont leave.
I would think word would of got out by now if any of the players have left. Think how fast news of the fire job got out this morning.

I have 3 of the 7 names.......................................
That's what you said on BN, usually you are correct on things like this so I guess I will have to waite for the names to come out.

Alpha, I think they are inquiring about players who are willingly quitting, or transferring, not the seven or eight you claim are being kicked off the team, which I'm assuming includes your boy JJ.

Growler called me and named the other four but of course he put the names in some damn code.

Name one: January Jones
Name two Pete Shark
Name three Bern Madoff
Name four Charles E. Pincus

With the three Alfalfa has and this list, it's over. Tension in Griz city!
