No sports in Washington.

No, he stated a political opinion.

I wouldn't be less annoyed if they were from the idontgiveashit party. This is a sports board, and 97% of us don't want to read posts from the nut jobs on either end of the political spectrum.

Pretty sure this is a fact "All three of those governors said they prefer college sports not to come back this year. "
And " you get what you vote for " is a statement not an opinion.
Now if he said " I believe you get what you vote for " that would be considered an opinion.
Try again Einstein

Okay, I'll state a fact: There are some serious fvcking political nut jobs on this board who really need lives.

You could remove the word "political" from your statement and still be on to something.

Well, certainly no argument there.

So what do you propose Montana do? Move up? Leave the conference? I don’t think other schools are going to leave anytime soon, but there’s always a chance.

Yes. MONTANA absolutely SHOULD become an FBS program. But until that's possible, I pray that the bsc does at least one thing right or well over the next five years. Hence my actions to call out the bsc when they suck (which further explains why there are a lot of such posts).
I've asked you numerous times, where should/would Montana look to go. The mountain west, that isn't going to happen anytime soon imo. There are just too many more viable/attractive teams out there who already are fbs.
I agree montana should be fbs, but until the power 5 teams break away and form another level of football it just isn't going to happen.

I disagree. What’s attractive about playing in the Cheez-It bowl or the famous Idaho Potato bowl? Nothing! I know if it were me, I’d rather win a national championship then win a meaningless bowl game.

Let me clarify, if teams from the power 5 break away and form their own division. Then teams like the g5 and teams from the fcs who are able and willing should form their own sub-division which would include a playoff system also.

You realize that 97% of college football fans consider any bowl game significantly more meaningful than an fcs "national" championship?

I love the playoffs and desire the scenario Braves outlines. But the fcs isn't sustainable, and isn't relevant. And Montana belongs with its peer universities.

Ya because they’ve never experienced another format before. What SELA’s head coach Frank Scelfo say before coming up here for the playoffs? “I love the bowl system, but this awesome. This is an opportunity for our guys to keep playing, and I guarantee you they would rather do this then get hats and t-shirts from a bowl game.” If people actually watched the FCS playoffs themselves, there’d be more desire to have an expanded playoff rather then bowl games. Or better yet, if the NCAA would just man up and run the postseason rather then letting the conferences do it, the FBS would have a great playoff system.

Why did the FBS start going to a playoff system then ?

To be fair, that's not what he said. He said people consider a bowl game more meaningful than an FCS championship, not that a random FBS bowl was more meaningful than a FBS playoff/ championship.

I understand what he said , I was curious ad to his thoughts on " why did the FBS start going to a playoff system ". Couldn't they have just stayed with the status quo ( bowl games for everyone and a selection committee ) since bowl games are so meaningful?

My interpretation is simply that he wasn't saying something intended to give that impression/ make that a meaningful argument. The bowl games being more meaningful (in his view) than a FCS playoff has nothing to do with the bowl games being more or less meaningful than a FBS playoff.

Obviously a lot of fans wanted the FBS playoff to make a "real" champion. For the record I'm not sure the FBS playoff was a total win from the fan perspective. I've gotten tired of the ESPN talking heads being all playoff all year, rather than talking about the conference races. Regionalism is what makes college football great, IMO.
