New University president?

I had to add the Journalist and attorney parts part for fun. I actually have a lot of really good friends that are Journalists and attorneys. I have the a lot of respect for most of the Journalists, and most of the attorneys.
Vegas has some very good attorneys, some of which appear in my court on occasion.

That's exactly why my daughter went that route. She was a pre-med major at UM then transferred to UNLV. She was doing a bit too much partying in Vegas so enlisted in the Marine Corps. When she and her husband discharged they moved here. He is a flight paramedic and she decided to go back to school to be a D.O. instead of and MD. It fit her beliefs and values more than M.D. Idk, she is a Missoula kid, half hippy/half mountain girl so it made sense to her. Also, I know there are DO's who are very good at their profession, and they are not witch doctors, but some are. He is going to Ohio University after she graduates for the same DO program. I will still bust their balls though because it's what I do.

There is nothing wrong with anybody's profession. I am equal with my trolling of all of them. I will be the first person to trash my own profession/s. There are stereotypes for all of them. Also, not in my defense, but I have that vet sense of dark humor where nothing is sacred or safe.

Sometimes I forget my audience, and the fact that the majority of people are sensitive about things. To quote my wife, "You can be a real ass and you're as sensitive of other people as a dead rooster".

Now back to the new president... I would like to see someone who is forward thinking, isn't afraid to rock the boat, loves athletics and academics equally. That unicorn probably doesn't exist though. I would like to see someone open up new avenues for education though. We know MSU will get their panties in a bunch if UM goes the engineering route, but I see no reason why there couldn't be an Aerospace and Nuclear engineering program, just because MSU has a minor or MA program doesn't mean they have the Bachelors degrees for those disciplines, and just because they are taught, doesn't mean they are quality programs.

I think it would boost enrollment at UM.
To quote my wife, "You can be a real ass and you're as sensitive of other people as a dead rooster".

That’s hysterical, mine says about the same to me.

People can’t handle a direct, straight to the point, conversation without their little feelers being activated.

Good intel on the interview process! They plan to interview 10 people via Zoom and then bring however many finalists to campus late this month or early April.

The search for the University of Montana's next president is entering the final stages, according to Commissioner of Higher Education Clayton Christian.

Christian tells NBC Montana the work group tasked with making the selection is close to narrowing down the pool of candidates to around 10.

The next step will be to invite the candidates to do Zoom interviews.

Christian hopes to complete those interviews in the next week to 10 days, with the finalist interview held on campus later this month or early April.

Christian said he feels really good about the progress being made and the strong pool of candidates the position attracted.

Based on that info, seems like probably May at the earliest when a new UM President could potentially start. If the finalists don't visit campus until early April, that means the BOR won't be able to sign-off during their April meeting.

I want an evaluation as impressionist from sin.

Equipment maintenance personnel are parasites who leech off engineer incompetence. Building things that break is substandard but those who make money from this train wreck are like ticks on a possum. One shitty organism sucking another. Pathetic.

The real heroes are salvagers, recyclers, and disposers. They are well trained and respected.
Dude! I just read this and laughed quite loudly. This is funny!

Engstrom is in Boise supporting the GRIZ speaking of presidents
eff Engstrom. I interacted with that guy more than I cared to. I really liked George Dennison, a lot. I met with him quite a bit as part of ASUM. He was a solid man. I never met Stearns or Bodnar, they were after my time, but I recall being fairly satisfied with the pick. A turnip would have been better than Engstrom. I don't think Stearns did much while she was in the role, granted it wasn't long. I am sure I am going to offend someone who is friends with him on here, or has a better opinion of him than I do, but I don't care. I didn't like the guy personally or professionally.

Here are enrollment numbers at UNC in recent years. UNC was able to get both undergraduate and graduate enrollment down significantly.

Ouch.

Do you get a president like WSU who fights for money or a president like NAU who is cutting athletics.

The WSU Board of Regents yesterday voted 8-1 to grant WSU Athletics $20 million in university operating funds to help fill a projected budget shortfall. “This action reflects the Board’s recognition that a strong Athletics program is one of the main drivers of student recruitment, retention, and institutional pride,” President Betsy Cantwell said in a message to WSU staff and faculty. “It strengthens WSU’s visibility, affinity and reputation while fully supporting — and in no way detracting from — WSU’s core academic and research mission.”

Given our history and the usual mind set here, we've probably already reached out to NAU.

Update on the President search! A few more applications have trickled in but the working group has identified 10 candidates to move to further consideration. I suspect that means zoom interviews. Some more good news as Deputy AD Greg Sundberg has been added to the working group to help vet and interview candidates. That's great news for the athletic department!

Good morning, University of Montana.

Our presidential search process is progressing smoothly as we transition from reviewing applications to beginning candidate interviews.

While we are still receiving and reviewing a few additional applications, the working group and I have been actively evaluating the applicant pool and have to date identified about ten candidates for further consideration.

To further broaden campus input in the review process, I have invited Paul Lukacs, Associate Vice President for Research and Creative Scholarship, and Greg Sundberg, Deputy Director of Athletics, to join the working group as we move through the next phases.

I’m deeply grateful for everyone’s assistance and support throughout this search effort. The engagement of the UM community has been indispensable in contributing to the success of this undertaking.

I mean his record speaks volumes. He tanked the freaking university.
