NDSU is gone

You guys crack me up, those teams were all gone by the time the griz won their championship. Remind me how the griz did against Nevada and Boise State and even Idaho in the 80's prior to all of them moving up?
Not the ‘95 championship. The Griz hadn’t become good yet in those early years. Those teams didn’t leave in the 80’s.

Jim cracks me up when he tries to post bs as fact when it is obvious to everyone on the board as bs.
If i were him with posts like this, id be embarrassed to show my face around here but then again, hiding behind a screen name vomiting out nonsense is right up a trolls alley.

People comment about how the playoff game are so much better but then can't sell out games in the playoffs against SDSU and SD, Furman or Delaware only one that sold out was NDSU. If the playoffs are in such demand why can't we sell out. Hmm.
Yes I rather have MW teams come into town for regular season game instead of teams we should beat hands down. 10 -2 against half the teams were d2 15 yrs ago isn't something to pound you chest about. The big sky is becoming d2 from 15 to 20 years ago. Back when everyone was saying we will never go to d2 but d2 has caught up to us. Sad
Myself I have said I don't mind fcs if we could schedule fbs for home and home for ooc schedule but fbs doesn't allow it. So we are stuck

Because we never have. Not even during Bobby 1.0. The only sellout I know of was NDSU Semis in 23. Maybe we could have this year if we didn't lose to the cats at home the week before. That really knocked the wind out of a lot of people's sails. I'm with ya, I would really like better regular season opponents. I just hope that the G6 gets some kind of re-vamped postseason. They need a playoff system in the worst way imaginable. Hopefully it happens, and in the meantime UM and msu can go to the legislature and lobby for more money.

Playoffs don't usually sell out because season tickets holders have to purchase the playoff tickets, the earliest round game is at Thanksgiving, the weather is getting much colder, the driving conditions can be bad, it's harder for out of towners to get to Friday night games, it's hunting season, people are moving into holiday season, etc. UM still gets a very large attendance for almost all playoff games. The attendance tends to rise as the playoffs go on and the games get tougher.

You must not attend many playoff games.

The money at NDSU is coming from large, private donations.
How long can those donations continue? Ok they got in the door but the cost of fielding a team will be much more expensive going forward. I don't know maybe they have boosters that can continue to put millions in to the program.

They will also be making a lot more going forward after the tv revenue comes in. The donations are just to clear the initial hurdle until the increased revenue covers the costs on its own.

Do you really struggle figuring out why playoff attendance is what it is?

We beat BSU and lost to Idaho and still won it all in 1995 lol

Just admit you said something really stupid without actually checking. It's fine, not the end of the world. ;)

I get it if a program gets an invite and the entrance fee is $1MM or $2MM, but $17 fucking million is insane. I don't even know where the money is from because they're not really a cash cow.

As it is now, mid major FBS is a shitty wasteland. No one is a major program, so they're all constantly scratching around for money and constantly begging for NIL $ is driving alumni and even coaches away.

We've been in that FBS area. It really sucked. A couple random bowl games against meaningless teams with no playoff excitement.

Having said that, I do miss playing peer schools like Nevada and Wyoming, but we can easily get them for OOC.
Yeah, OOC's with Wyoming and Nevada where they will never visit the Kibbie Dome.

It makes sense for NDSU to move up. Fan interest is waning. They've got nothing at all left to prove at the FCS level. They routinely knock off FBS teams.

UM moving up to FBS will be the death of the program. If you guys haven't noticed we can't even dominate the Big Sky conference anymore. We will not fill the stadium when we are 4-7 hosting UNLV on a Tuesday night. I get that everyone is terrified that we get left behind but the grass is not always greener. I love what we have in FCS football.
The old and stale Fargodome won’t be filled either on a Tuesday regardless of their record. Hell they don’t sell 18,000 tickets on Saturdays. They haven’t had a sellout in over three years. 10k were at the Illinois st game. But the FCS is dying. You go where you can make the most money. Butts in the seats is important but not a dealbreaker.

We're basically going to be Division 2 if we don't move soon.
We are Division 2. It's just called something different.
If our other sports win a national championship, they are champs of the highest level of that college sport. If our football team wins a national championship, they are champs of the second highest level of college football.

I've always thought it silly that college football slices a division in two based entirely on sports that are not football. "Well, the bball team plays DI, so the FB team also has to play DI, kinda, in a way, but not the way you're thinking. So, basically, when the planet Krypton exploded . . ."

I liked it better under the moniker of NCAA -1AA. It just sounded cooler to me. LOL. There’s the P4 and then basically everybody else in some form or fashion.
