NDSU is gone

If you think 12M is a lot, wait till you see what it costs in 2030.
Oh, good! You’re here. Are you mad that you have to play in bowl games instead of the FCS playoffs? What’s the general feeling among the rotund?

I came here because you're my second favorite FCS team and I'm interested.

To me, this $17 million bet is terrible. They won't be able to keep up with the arms race unless they have a Phil Knight or T. Boone Pickens, the MWC is essentially a lateral move and they'll never sniff another natty.

Can someone give me the tldr; version of the consensus opinion on eGriz?

They are mainly paying for it with large donations.

But for what? There's no realistic path to the CFP from the mountain west, the schedule is too weak. The American, pac, and sun belt are going to get the one crumb the CFP allows the G6 (for now) and the MWC has a bigger chance of imploding than competing. UNLV, air force and new Mexico will be looking for the exit if they're not already, because of the crappy media deal. And we're supposed to be excited to pay 10m to be a part of that, with no path to anything but a no name mid December bowl? Yes, Cats and griz both could take these rosters and finish in the top half of that league right now, today. But so what? You're essentially trading a weak bottom half of a conference for a more expensive version.
That may be the opportunity for the MT schools because the 2 will relocate (doubt anyone wants New Mexico). And the BIG/SEC whoever else they let in super conference scenario still looms large unless the have nots continue to kiss their rings. That so many schools that lack the dollars keep trying to play the same game as the Ohio States and Texases is not sustainable. Hopefully people come to their senses before too much damage is done.

Who?

Akron? They were never an FCS powerhouse.
Arkansas State? They were decent in the 80's but absolutely sucked in the late 80's and early 90's when they moved up.
LA Tech? They had some strong teams in the early 90's, but were fairly mediocre before they moved up.
LA Monroe? Not exactly a powerhouse before or after moving up, either.
North Texas? They were bad to mediocre until they moved up, then were just bad.

Nevada is probably the only team I might agree with you on, they were really good, but one team is not "a ton".
Akron was never in the FCS/IAA they went FBS after losing the Div II NC. All those other teams were the best of the FCS and were waaaaay better than the griz prior to moving to the FBS.

If the shoe fits...

If indeed NDSU does move up, and the current trolls who have nothing better to do than hang out on a Griz fan forum continue to do so, then more power to you I guess. But man that's a pathetic and sad existence.
They're in NoDakota thus pathetic and sad apply.

….And, I believe, that’s precisely why there will be an observable, initially slow, death of football support at UM. Continued games against NoCo, Central Washington, Cal Poly, ISU & Portland State, attendance falls, more fees added to already extremely overpriced tickets to watch lousy competition. Innovation, courage and leadership are needed. The idea of not accepting No and instead demanding a viable path to achieve a YES! 👍
Agreed…..3/4 of the home games have outcomes that are already decided before the games are even played. Fans will lose interest eventually, not completely as the Wa Griz atmosphere is second to none but there will be a drop off.

You would think they would lose interest but they have not even when UM had a losing season in 2012 the attendance was still strong.

You're either misremembering how good those other teams were or just lying because you don't actually know that they weren't that good before they moved up, and most weren't very good after moving up, either.

None of those teams would've prevented the Griz from winning it all in 1995 or 2001.

Absolutely not. We’ve been sitting at the FCS level for so long watching all the best programs we used to compete against jump ship for the FBS that we have become the proverbial frog in the boiling pot slowly boiling to death and not realizing it. Staying at the FCS level and continuing to play programs that can barely get 6k fans to attend is going to be the death of this fanbase eventually. That’s why NDSU’s attendance numbers started declining because that fanbase was tired of games not having any meaning outside of SDSU and one or two playoff games.

Montana absolutely can compete at the top of the Mountain West, and close game will peak people’s interest.

I trust you'll have that same venom saved up for those who start ot of the blue threads about NDSU especially since now going forward they are an random FBS team..agree?

Ndsu thinking the mountain west is a good thing is the same as people who thought they were going to see something fascinating when Geraldo opened Al Capone’s vault on live tv. Total snake oil sales job that = disappointment. Should have waited two more years.

Wrong again. "His 1976 Akron squad played for the NCAA Division II championship (Pioneer Bowl), losing to the Montana State Bobcats, 24-13. Under Dennison's tutelage, the Zips transitioned from NCAA Division II to Division I-AAand posted an 80–62–2 record that included a I-AA playoff berth in 1985 and nine winning seasons in Dennison's thirteen." Wiki.
