NDSU is gone

The fact NDSU is talking about scheduling PAC teams and going to be playing Wyoming, Nevada etc. while we sit here and try to hype up CSU-Pueblo and Central Washington as potential future Big Sky members is.......depressing. Need to start doing what we can NOW to try and make a move in 2032 before it's too late.

Why? How?

CSU Pueblo has big Mike Pennel who made 11 tackles in the previous 2 Super Bowls before this season and Ryan Jensen who started at center in Super Bowl 55 with Tom Brady. They have sent many players from the trenches to the league in the past 15 years. I am not sure how that is depressing. They also already average more fans than Northern Colorado.

The 6 prior champions before the Griz in 1995 were Georgia Southern, Marshall or Youngstown State which all were still in the FCS in 1995.
You guys crack me up, those teams were all gone by the time the griz won their championship. Remind me how the griz did against Nevada and Boise State and even Idaho in the 80's prior to all of them moving up?

Youngstown State is still in the FCS today and Marshall was the Griz opponent for the 1995 championship? Georgia Southern moved up after 2001.

Never won't be funny to see these non-Griz fans constantly policing what Griz fans do on the Griz fan website lol
*"Never won't be funny".. 😂😂

I take it with that answer your obsession will continue with NDSU even know their in the FBS now for a long, long, time that's not funny to you?

Maybe if some GRIZ fans like you would concentrate on posting more about the GRIZ on a GRIZ board than about random teams who didn't even play in the Big Sky, some posters wouldn't have to "police" you.😁

I came here because you're my second favorite FCS team and I'm interested.

To me, this $17 million bet is terrible. They won't be able to keep up with the arms race unless they have a Phil Knight or T. Boone Pickens, the MWC is essentially a lateral move and they'll never sniff another natty.

Can someone give me the tldr; version of the consensus opinion on eGriz?
Consensus opinion on eGriz.com? Ha!

Most posters seem to want the Griz to move up. Those posters also seem to be OK to never compete for national championships. They'd rather play Wyoming and Boise than NoCo and Cal Poly. Opportunities for a rare bowl game is satisfying.

The sane minority seems to understand the costs of moving up are prohibitive. They seem to prefer to continue to compete for national championships. They like the Giz to be among the big fish. Rare and random bowl games are not enticing.

I personally think the Griz and probably the cats are in a bad position. Move up to a situation in the MWC that is unknown vs stay put to a situation in the BSC that is unknown.

I think moving up would change the Griz in ways we cannot imagine - and those ways are not positive...

I get it if a program gets an invite and the entrance fee is $1MM or $2MM, but $17 fucking million is insane. I don't even know where the money is from because they're not really a cash cow.

As it is now, mid major FBS is a shitty wasteland. No one is a major program, so they're all constantly scratching around for money and constantly begging for NIL $ is driving alumni and even coaches away.

We've been in that FBS area. It really sucked. A couple random bowl games against meaningless teams with no playoff excitement.

Having said that, I do miss playing peer schools like Nevada and Wyoming, but we can easily get them for OOC.

The money at NDSU is coming from large, private donations.

NDSU is definitely not hurting for money right now.. they have 10 current NFL players on active roster, 6 on practice squad and 2 on injured reserve.. plus there are plenty of farmers who are millionares in the Red River Vally in North Dakota that are alumni of NDSU..

Trust me money isn't an issue at NDSU.and won't be for a long time..

Spot on. I’ll add college football is currently flat out broken. We’ve heard every “expert” and hall of fame coaches say this. With that, I am glad the Griz aren’t moving up right now. So much more needs to shake out. Stay put for now. The Griz fan base will be more than happy with a natty in a watered down FCS tier. Keep your customers happy. Don’t chase the FBS label for at least one or two more years. Just my opinion.

Nevada - 1991 was last year in I-AA
Boise St - 1995 was last year in I-AA
Idaho - 1995 was last year in I-AA
Georgia Southern - 2013 was last year in I-AA
Marshall - 1996 was last year in I-AA
Youngstown State - STILL in I-AA

So, outside of Nevada, EVERY one of those teams you mentioned was still in FCS when Griz won their first title.

Jim cracks me up when he tries to post bs as fact when it is obvious to everyone on the board as bs.

It makes sense for NDSU to move up. Fan interest is waning. They've got nothing at all left to prove at the FCS level. They routinely knock off FBS teams.

UM moving up to FBS will be the death of the program. If you guys haven't noticed we can't even dominate the Big Sky conference anymore. We will not fill the stadium when we are 4-7 hosting UNLV on a Tuesday night. I get that everyone is terrified that we get left behind but the grass is not always greener. I love what we have in FCS football.
