Butthurt? Why? The Sioux weren't suppose to win, weren't the Griz 17 point favorites? Really impressed with where the Sioux have come defensively in a year. How many points did the Griz score on them last year? How many did the Griz win by last year?

A little fact for you. I lived in Bozeman as a little kid, during the Joe Tiller, Dennis Erickson, and Jan Stenerud days, while my Dad attended college. So I grew up a Cat fan. I went to UND, as we moved to ND after my sophomore year of high school. Much cheaper to go to UND, then pay out of state tuition, even though there is some reciprocity. Trying to figure out if your ignorant, (lacking knowledge), stupid, (lack of intelligence or common sense) or both

My wife and I are happy that the Sioux joined the BSC as it is the conference we love.

I will carry on, and read more excuses. BTW read the first paragraph again, no excuses for the Sioux loss.

Obvious your definition of a troll, is someone that doesn't have the same perception as you. Shallow way to look at things, especially when the facts are staring you in the face. Evident by the way you responded by someone citing a study based on on facts.

When I compare our offense to the cat people's offense, it does not make sense to me that their offense is so much better than ours. We have better skill positions, they have a better line. Seems like it should be about a wash. Therefore, I am convinced scheme plays a bigger role than most give it credit. Instead of being on the cutting edge, or at least consistent with most current high schools, our coaches are running a relic that sucked in the 80s, and we don't have the personnel for it to boot.

Our offense have been far harder hit by injuries than your defense (AFIK). After the bye week we should have everyone back, with the exception of Naccarato. If they still can't get it done, I'll start to worry more about it.

What is this meltdown pattern I've read about? Yes we've struggled in the playoffs, but I wouldn't call losing in 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs "a late season meltdown".

In 2010 we won 4 in a row before losing to NDSU in the 1st round.
2011 we lost our first game and last game, to UM. Won a playoff game, lost to SHSU.
2012 we won the last 4 games, won a playoff game, lost to SHSU again.
2013 was the only time I'd say we melted down, obviously losing 3 in a row to miss the playoffs.

I agree that we've had some difficulties in the last half of the season, but in the past 4 years only 2013 could be classified as a late season meltdown. Here are our records for the "last half" of the last 4 seasons. I included the last 5 games in 11 game seasons, and the last 6 in the 12 game season last year.

Now if you want to call our playoff losses meltdowns, I cannot argue that.

2013 - 3-3

Shhhhhhhh. Don't confuse their stories over here with solid facts. They get cranky. This year they'll get to see what a true late season melt down looks like, and it won't be the Cats. :shock:

"If it’s a low scoring game, the defense will keep the points down and we will control the ball and make sure we have more points than the other team. If it’s a high-scoring game, we will open it wide open and try to score more than they do."

So there you have it. The bobcat defense will only let them score when the bobcat offense is scoring more. A very wise man, it's an ancient Chinese secret... :lol:

Few know this but Coach ron ash actually minored in Ancient Chinese Studies. In addition, his uncle, Dong 'The Donger" Ash ran a small string of successful laundromats in the Des Moines area.

On the topic of MSU's defense, my observation is that the MSU defense does far better against the more traditional pro-style offenses than they do against the fast break, spread teams. I'm not sure if that's due to some youth/inexperience on the front line, if it's a personnel thing where the guys we have are just more suited to stopping the pro-style, if it's a conditioning thing, or if it's a situation where our defensive coaches haven't figured out how to defend the spread.

To test my theory, we'll see how the defense does against a slower paced, pro style team in UCD this weekend.

Three things. First off, I actually do think our D will cause us to lose one more reg season game this season. Second off, our D is not as bad as the stats suggest, you'll start to see a more dominating defense starting with UCD, tune in at 5:10 Saturday. Third, we WILL NOT lose to either PSU or ISU at home, I promise you that. So you're not going to see another three game slide at the end of the season like last year.

CDA, you are exactly right. I looked at my copy of Playing .500 Ball and it's there. I remember reading it but I guess I just glossed over it thinking it had to do with his summer job as a fluff manager in the underground Ankeny movie industry.

I probably sound like a broken record but it's all scheme, I tell ya!
This is not unique to cat people; it is the same for each team. Defending a spread scheme is harder than a proset and not simply because speed vs. strength. There is so much misdirection (who has the ball?) and responsibilities. You can't just pin your ears back. It's like evolution, yet our Neanderthal coach is stuck in the stone age.

I don't think UC Davis will be a great game to see how your defense stacks up. Your defense should do well against them, but again, it's UC Davis. They're a lot like North Dakota... Not really a threat to put many points on the board with their offense.

Speaking of which, Coach Ron Ash was interviewed for today’s Missoulian article about the Cats’ offensive coordinator:

“You have to pick a philosophy and go with it,” [Coach Ron] Ash said. “We’re (trying) to run a lot of plays and score a lot of points. That’s what we want to do on offense.

“We just think we’ll win more games that way, so that’s the philosophy we’re going to choose.”
