MSU vs. Sac State.

Speaking of which, Coach Ron Ash was interviewed for today’s Missoulian article about the Cats’ offensive coordinator:

“You have to pick a philosophy and go with it,” [Coach Ron] Ash said. “We’re (trying) to run a lot of plays and score a lot of points. That’s what we want to do on offense.

“We just think we’ll win more games that way, so that’s the philosophy we’re going to choose.”

Wait, so the “philosophy” that Coach Ron Ash is going to choose sometime in the future is to “run a lot of plays?” I was hoping some of you Cat insiders could translate this for me.
A fast pace spread offense that gets more plays offensive in per game vs. a slow-it-down ball control style offense that helps the defense more. It looks like offensively they have more weapons to win a shoot out than defensive weapons that win a slow paced, ball control game.

Positive - Lots of plays, lots of points, high scoring games. Makes a good offense look even better.
Negative - Little rest for defensive side of ball, resulting in more defensive plays, tired players, high scoring games. Makes a decent defense look not very good.

When exactly does Coach Ron Ash plan to choose this philosophy? The season is halfway over; the clock is ticking.

Last spring?

Then why does he say, "so that’s the philosophy we’re going to choose.”
This must be an old interview or something, right?
I haven't seen any video of him choosing so I will be assuming it didn't happen.

Good point. Smart. I just hope he chooses soon for the Cats' sake. Think of the seniors who put in all the work for the last 4-5 years. Coach Ron Ash owes it to them, at least, to choose a philosophy.

j.j. has been hurt significantly three different times. the first came around the 33rd run of his career. he was dinged up against n.a.u. last year, but didn't miss a game, got concussed and missed a game this year and is staring at another missed game due to his ankle. mcghee had about 325 carries before he got hurt and missed a game. adams has had 260 carries. prikop has 91 carries and been sacked 11 times.

some players frames are just more durable than others. that's a bigger factor than how often someone runs it. but you never know and can't predict when someone will get hurt. they're all bound to at some point though.

one thing is for certain. when you start predicting a player on an opposing team will get hurt, it comes off as you're wishing he gets hurt whether that's your intention or not.

Bingo.

This is how I feel every time I read something like this from an opposing fan, whether it's VA, Jordy, DMac, Dakota. It's the same broken record.

Prukop is a damn good QB. Most will agree on that point. If he stays healthy the cats will do quite well until they do the now famous "msu meltdown" towards the end of the season.
Yes indeed I like watching him as he slings the ball to every player on the team including the center and various linemen. Then if he finds only a few open receivers he takes off and runs like the wind.

Prukop is all that msu has, if he stays healthy they will do great. If on the other hand he gets injured..... msu won't have to wait for the usual melt down, they will simply fade away in a slow death and no one will even remember them as the season winds down!
I strongly disagree. Bleskin can spin it like no other back-up in the league. We would be fine if that happened.

Agree. He's actually better than the starter.
