Well Havfan.....as you know Prukop has just been named National POW after his outstanding performance at Sac St.; do you still stand by the statement "the Cats don't have a single player as talented as Ellis Henderson" or would you rather wait for the all BSC team to be announced (sorry Hendo won't be on it) Would Prukop even make a good backup on the 2014 edition of the Griz? Remember.....you are the "objective" one
Prukop is a one man wrecking machine. He has shown in just his 6th collegiate start that he is one of the best in the country, hands down. He's the whole package and he is just getting started.
Prukop runs too much, takes too many chances, and probably isn't going to the last the season.
This is hilarious. I remember Griz fans saying the exact same thing about Denarius. Despite your warnings in 2010, he didn't miss a game until his senior year.
That being said, when you run an offense like the Cats do (or like the Griz try to do), there is inherent risk with your QB getting hurt. That's just the way it is. Ask Jordy Johnson or Vernon Adams.
Nobody wants a QB to get hurt, especially in a conference like this. Jordy has given more than anyone else to UM and should be respected for his career, regardless of how it ends this season. Having him be hurt and even missing one game isn't a fitting way to send out your senior. But then again, PR, is that because he plays too recklessly, or because injuries to star players is an inherent risk of football?
I'd like you to answer by first answering my either or question and then spinning away the answer. Please proceed, and then distinguish how Dakota Prukop is more likely to get hurt than any of the others.
Prukop is more likely to get injured than the other 2 because he runs way more often, and doesn't protect himself. He has 91 carries for 460 yards, is a large part of the running offense, and is the leading ground gainer. He has 28 more carries than the leading running back. JJ has 15 carries for 45 yards. He has had virtually no planned runs this year. This is in contrast to his sophomore year, when he ran alot, and was nagged by injuries most of the season. He ran more last year too, and also had a nagging injury. I think the UM coaches are trying to protect him more this year. Adams has 63 carries for 209 yards. Many of his runs are scrambles. 2 EWU running backs have more yards than he has.
Prukop is the 8th leading runner in the conference, and is leading in rushing TD's. Only 3 running backs have more carries, and one of them has only 1 more carry. You may think he is superhuman, but I don't.
While I have only seen parts of several Cat games, my Bozeman friends, including my family, parents of several Cat players, and a former Griz player living in Bozeman, have all said that they believe Prukop will get hurt if he continues playing like he has.
McGhee did in fact get hurt. His injuries severely impacted his season last year, as well as the Cats' season. It was also rumored that he had significant nagging injuries in prior years, which also impacted him. I don't buy your argument of: ya, he got hurt as many predicted, but he didn't get hurt as quickly as you thought he would. He got hurt, and it had a huge impact on him and the Cats. And he got hurt running, and running hard.
The Griz don't have JJ running this year. You obviously haven't watched any games, or weren't paying attention. Even the few times he has run zone read, he hasn't kept the ball. JJ is too valuable to lose. His recent injury came on a flagged late hit following a pass, not on a run or scramble.
Injuries are a risk to football players. Star players are not at greater risk, unless they take more chances or are targeted (which I don't think happens often). Quarterbacks who are reckless consistently generally get hurt more. Some of more susceptible than others.
Prukop is listed at 195. I don't believe he is that rare qb who is built to take hits, like some are. I love qb's who run hard and put their head downs to pick up yardage or just run over defenders. However, over time, I've realized that it's better for the team and the qb to run out of bounds, slide, and not take chances except in rare situations.
We'll see what happens. We'll see how "hilarious" you think it is if Prukop gets hurt.
