Meet the 2012 Big Sky Champs: Sam Houston St.

The Cats have been to the playoffs three straight years, and have the same amount of playoff wins as the Griz do in that same time frame. The Griz have missed the playoffs twice in that stretch and have won as many games as the Cats in the playoffs, and have been a round further with only one chance to do so....

And the logic of the Cats beating the Griz in Missoula two times meaning the rivalry has turned, I don't really get considering the Griz haven't lost in Bozeman since 2005.

And the cats have no semi appearances during that time. The Griz have one.

To suggest that the cat Griz program is on the decline is just as ridiculous as BS33 suggests these posts are. The Griz are one year removed from being one possession away from another trip to the title game, a place they end up roughly every other year. Teams that go to the title game every 2 or 3 years are hardly "declining".

I hope you're right but I think you have your head in the sand.

Did not say the Griz are in decline. What I did say is your past tremendous streak is no indicator of the future. The conference is much stronger now. You won't see dominance by any one team any longer. Most of the teams in the Big Sky have greatly improved their programs. The new teams that have been added are also strong.

We don't have the best coach in the league by any means. Our QB made a stupid ass decision and is now headed to court, we are on our third head coach in the past 4 years and we had a pretty young team. Overall not the best scenario, but I think kittie fans are worried and delirious. They know the train is about to get back on the tracks and roll right over their ass like his has been for the last 20 + years. Enjoy your brief and minimal success (I actually am glad for your players). The party is about to be over considering what you have to reload with.

BITCHSLAPPED!!!!!  :thumb: :thumb:

Bigsky33, let me asky you an honest question, with ZERO smack intended. Do you believe the Cats would have went 11-2, shared the Big Sky, beat the Griz on the road, beat Stony Brook and hosted the FCS quarterfinals in an awesome Friday night ESPN2 game had DeNarius McGhee not played a single snap this season?

The Cats have a lot to re-load with so I wouldn't get to cocky Copper. Your train is not back on the track yet. In fact, you don't know if it will get back on track yet. You won't know until the NCAA investigation is completed and the results are in. Also, Copper the Cats success isn't minimal. It has been major over the last three years. Each year since Ash has been at MSU the recruits he has brought in have been better. So what is happening is as the seniors graduate they are being replaced by better athletes. Yes there are a couple that will be hard to replace like Minter and Schreibies. But the ones stepping in to replace those guys will be fine. I will take what we have over the uncertainty with the resolution of the train wreck with an interim coach and not knowing the results of the NCAA investigation.

Of course you're right. But we did have him. And yes, I am sure you guys would have had a much better season with JJ but you didn't have him. Also, you would have had a better season if you didn't lose your head coach. But that's what happened. So yes we did have an excellent season and in no way were the Cats an embarassment. I agree it's rediculous for a few of the Griz posters on here to say that when their own train is off the track because of embarassing things that happened.

Stupid ass cat fans were spewing this same shit after our 2010 season and were completely embarrassed in 2011.

The cats simply are not a playoff team.
We've seen enough proof...I'm over them

UM will be right back in it.
Can't wait to own the sky next season and initiate a new era of dominance.

First off, I have NEVER said the Cats embarrassed anybody or anything. It's not embarrassing to get thumped by a superior football team and that's what happened to the Cats against Sam Houston State. I think the reason a select few Griz posters are saying that is, MANY Cat fans have come on this board and said the same trash about the Griz in CLOSE losses in the national championship game in year's past. Also, it looks bad when a select few Cat fans start saying "we actually played them tough, or close" after the Cats just got soundly beat, 34-16. To say that, on EGRIZ and not expect a negative reaction is pretty naive.

But back to the original point, which was, ALL OF THE STUFF, as you like to point out, i.e, Donaldson, Pflu and O'day, tazer incident, NCAA investigation, didn't knock the Griz off the tracks. After 11 games, it's pretty obvious that it was ONE thing this season, and that's JJ. Not all the rest, including Delaney's short-coming's during games. The rest of that crap didn't have isht to do with the Griz struggling in 2012. Take JJ, and dare I say Nate Montana off the Griz, and you get 5-6. Have both of them, and all the rest of the problems, and the Griz at the very least make the playoffs, and probably better. Yes, it's all hindsight, but I'm just pointing out that while you like to pile on as to why the Griz struggled, most of your reasons actually have little to do with why they struggled.

Wow. You can say that again....

But to be fair to the cats on this board, it's only a select handful of moronic cat fans claiming what Bull$hit33 and a few other kitties are. A good number of the cat fans on this board are good posters who get it. A few, however, tend to be... shall we say "challenged".

You're right bigsky, it is the final score that counts, not stats. So quit telling us how the cats played them tough based on stats. The fact is that the Griz, eags and poly all played Sammy tough and each damn near beat them, on the scoreboard. The cats are the only big sky team that got their asses kicked, and they did it twice no less! The cats need to stop rolling over and playing dead during the playoffs. It's embarrassing to the rest of the conference.

Lots of things happened this year that didn't happen last year. Did you know, for example, that a Mars Rover successfully landed on Mars this year but not last year? Or that the Griz beat the Cats last year, but not this year? Or that the Griz beat EWU in 2011 but not 2012? Or that the Griz were in the playoffs in 2011 but not 2012?

Yep, the Cats surely do apologize for letting the Griz down and losing to SHSU this year. I know it must dissapoint you. But if that is what really gets you, why don't you get yourselves back into the playoffs next year and do something about it if you are such a competitive squad?

Not a playoff team? Well, the Cats won 11 games this year. The Griz won 5. It seems as though the threshold for playoff qualifications was somewhere above 5 wins. Wouldn't you agree?

I only came on here to post in response that the Cat's were an embarassment this year. An 11-2 record, Big Sky co-champions and going to the qtr finals is NOT an embarassment. I did not say the Griz are in decline. I did say the Big Sky is a a much tougher conference now and no team is going to dominate in the future like you guys did in the past. I think that is realistic based on the great improvement in many programs and the new teams added. And yes Havgrizfan, I agree that if you had JJ and Phlu you would have had a much better team. But not having those people was part of the turmoil that happened this past year and knocked you off the tracks. If those things didn't happen you would have had them. So, it was part of the problem.

To the few morons on here that keep saying the Cats were an embarassment, you need to look honestly at your own program this year and the negative media it generated. It wasn't good. Take the blinders off. If you were not embarassed by everything that happened and is going on then you have a real problem. Just say'in!

Any Griz talking smack to the Cats after this past season just looks ridiculous. If anyone would be interested in dropping the BS and talking football, I'd like to hear anyone's analysis of how he Griz have any prospect of surpassing the Cats as soon as next season, given what both teams have coming back.
