I get that he ran the guy down, but did people see the horrible angle he took initially that was the reason he had to?

I don't think his angle was bad at all. It looked like he was the post defender and post players are told to work inside out. I think the corner should have stayed outside and turned it back into him. I also think he trusted the corner to do that.

Agree to disagree.

We think differently, but remain civil.

Not to give people an excuse to obscure the line of agreement (damn you'll are like trying to say something nice to my ex-wife.)

Should someone with McGinnis's speed play strong safety. Strong safety are not suppose to be small! More like a LB who can cover.

He isn't small.

He is the opposite of tiny.

After that play, Bobby will definitely give him more playing time. Bad angle, good angle, big small-he made a great hit and tackle. Go Mac!

Looks like McGinnis is number 2 behind both Hauck and Robertson for this weeks game so he should be getting plenty of playing time on Saturday.

Also, for you guy's complaining about the angle he took on this play it looks to me he was right where he was supposed to be. For what ever reason the cornerback Walker got caught way inside on the play and gave the Oregon running back the outside lane.

speaking of out of position with our safety.....the touch down of Oregon on the two yard line with Calhoun....How do you not see player out there all alone.....blown assignment does not quite do that one justice.....Mcginnis is a 4.0 student...for that reason alone he deserves a start imo .....

Your observation looks to me to be correct. I think this is the reason Bobby in the press conference mentioned a Freshman made a mistake that allowed the gain. This is how they learn unfortunately. Hopefully you won’t get burned with every mistake you make and hopefully you don’t make the same mistake again. Only time, reps, film and coaching prevent it from happening again. Do your 1/11 and you will be ok.

I can't really see the play very well, but I can't imagine that McGinnis was out of position, giving where he lined up and where he pursued the play initially. Again, incredible play and speed by him. I am truly impressed.

..armed chair QB's are complaining about his angle..but seeing him on the field with his size, speed
and athleticism is what impressed me..IMO.hes got more 'upside' than any safety out there..he also
could be moved to LB..there are not many players who could chase down a Oregon Duck RB in full
sprint..esp. a FCS guy...its going to be interesting to see where he ends up..

Anyone else notice Oregon legend and speed demon LaMichael James givng McGinnis' speed props in a reply to that tweet? Pretty cool. If he says a guy can run, then he can run. period. McGinnis and Robertson should always be the first guys off the bus. (along with Sims). Impressive athlete.

Shuffle, shuffle, find the ball. take good pursuit angle. The sideline is your backstop. Basic stuff Go Griz

Other funny/interesting quotes in the tweet thread:

"14 is a sophomore. State track champion. He’s got some wheels."

"Eastern Montana white bread can fly"

"Dat guy got some strides!"

His keys appear to have him shading right. The corner got blocked & the back was out quick. I’d agree it wasn’t the angle your coach would want, and Bobby publicly criticized him for, but nothing short of an amazing recovery & run down of a Pac12 kid who should be incredibly embarrassed about being caught from behind like that.
