Player Rep, I seem to remember him being between two defenders. One coming in from what would be his left side. I do not believe a defender needs to come from the front of a player for him to "hear footsteps". I think Jones may have caught a glimpse of the player with his peripheral vision and thought he may have been closer than he actually was causing him to lose focus on the ball. Bottom line Jones should have made the catch and scored, but he has made his fair share of plays this season and will continue to make more. Very talented player.

I had a pretty good view of it, and I think his left arm was grabbed/swatted/hit by the defender. It wasn't a ball that any receiver would one-hand if there was any other option. I think EWU got away with a PI that play - but was not so obvious that you could blame a ref for missing it. Kind of fuzzy now, but I'm thinking Jones just quickly gave the ref a little look to see if there was a call.

Jones has the ability to be a great Griz receiver but until Gragg, Hynson, and the offensive line get their collective heads out of their butts JJ's hands are tied. This whole thing is tiresome. While receivers are running routes JJ is running for his life :evil:

And with all of the names mentioned, noone said Cam Warren. That guy is impressive and looks like a clutch receiver to me for those mid range passes. Tough too. Not quite a Wes Welker, but getting there.

Cam Warren had at least two catches in traffic and took a pretty good wack but still held on to the ball. I like him for more underneath throws.

THIS...big time. COACHES!!! WTF ARE YOU DOING? Use our good qb and great receivers on some screens... slants... cross routes .. any f'n thing and then you can try to run the small backs into the middle of the plugged o-line for minimal gains once in awhile if you feel you need to do that. I truly believe we have wasted a couple losses and are missing out on what could be if you utilize what we have available in our aerial game. Plus... JJ could and would scramble for 2-3 first downs himself per game likely if no open receivers. Give up on this dive/trap first mentality every f'n set of downs and play some football like the Griz are capable of. What a waste. Yes.. we have a decent running game when the online feels like showing up but quick mid range passes NEED to be a part of our offense which has been severely anemic against decent teams unless we are in desperation mode.

The only thing I disagree with your post is our good QB is a great QB.

With Henderson and Jones being deap threats, that 6-10 yard pass will work. If opponents want to stack the box, pass to set up the run.

There was lots of buzz about Jones in fall camp and it's cool to see that coming forth. With him and Henderson both hitting their stride it's going to really make the passing game more dangerous.

UM is given up the 3d fewest sacks in the conference, and tied for 22d in nation. 11. PSU and CP are tied for 1st. EWU and MSU are 5th and 6th.

Jones is one of the few receivers that gets open on every play. He also really hustles on kick teams to be the first guy down field. Unfortunately he still drops too many passes, especially touchdown passes. If he could focus better he could be really special.

That was the rap on him at UW and hence him leaving.

that is more a reflection of a smart qb who knows when to throw the ball out of bounds when he is scrambling than it is the o-line protecting him.... all too often JJ is forced out of the pocket and has to make throws like he did to Warren on the sideline or simply just throw it out and live to fight another day....

Give JJ time and he will pick teams apart with the talent he has to throw too. If we can get a few guys back from the recovery ward like Van, Counts Dracula and company, and let JJ run the offense we could be fricken dangerous on offense. Defense needs to step up for all four quarters, they seem to play awesome at times but stall out at others. Yards after first contact is what frustrates the shit out of me, tackletackletackletackletackletackletackle. Quit playing so damn far off receivers to shut down those short yardage passes, those are what have been killing us the last few weeks.
To go back to the original post Jamaal is a great one two punch with Henderson. I would still like to see Mckinney come in at times and play a wildcat, just to give defenses a moment of pause.
