Jamaal Jones

...so, Jordy Nelson is a possession receiver? Why? 'Cuz he's white? Does he have a "high motor" too??

Dumb comparison, however you try to explain it away.

Never said anything about color...has nothing to do with it. And yea, Jordy was Rogers go to guy with 117 catches over 2 years.

To my original point….

A 6’3” 220 lb ultra fast big-play threat compared to a 5’6” 170lb slot, possession receiver. Dumb comparison, and only done because he is another white wide-receiver.

There are dozens of other comparisons that would have made sense. This did not.

Done.

Ok if we can't compare white guys to other white guys, I would have to say that Cam Warren reminds me a lot of A.J. Green. :?

In all honesty Raider you are spot on. It drives me crazy how every white guy has to be crafty, high motor, slow etc. etc. Case in point, Kevin Love being voted by NBA GM's as the guy who does the most with the least natural ability. Even though Love is 6'10" with a 35" vertical and is averaging 30pts and 15rebs per game this season.

Jamal Jone is a beast. Every receiver drops passes sometimes. Wes Welker drops some, Jerry Rice dropped some. I think even Megatron dropped one once, though it was like four years ago. Jones, at least as a Griz, doesn't drop any more than the next guy. He's a beast plain and simple. End of thread.

They just need to throw to Jamaal right off the bat so he can get his drop out of the way. Then, watch out.

Cam Warren/Welker comparison is a good one. Or Jordy Nelson.

Why, because he is a white WR??

Jordy Nelson is 6'3" 220

Jordy Nelson is white....who knew

Comparing Cam Warren to Jordy Nelson has to be a joke. You must think Chase Naccarato is comparable to Eric Decker? Wow.

Don't insult Chase like that! He has way too much class than to play for the donkeys!!

And with all of the names mentioned, noone said Cam Warren. That guy is impressive and looks like a clutch receiver to me for those mid range passes. Tough too. Not quite a Wes Welker, but getting there.

Yeah, that's pretty much it - because he's a white WR. Your'e barkin' up the wrong tree if you're accusing me of racism. And, I don't recall comparing their size either. I just think Warren's play reminds me of both those guys. Good, clutch receiver. You OK with that?

My guess is he was talking about being a possession receiver, one that you can count on to make those tough catcher when needed. Blasting him on the measurements....really?

Thanks Putter. Glad someone got the point.

Jones is one of the few receivers that gets open on every play. He also really hustles on kick teams to be the first guy down field. Unfortunately he still drops too many passes, especially touchdown passes. If he could focus better he could be really special.
That was the rap on him at UW and hence him leaving.

Was wondering the same thing, more specifically I was wondering "Why would UW have let this guy get away?"

Watching his last drop, it was directly into the sun. Look at the shadows.

Some guys just have to bring up the race card, no matter the discussion.

Sorry I had a hand in derailing your Jamaal Jones thread. I am super-glad that Jamaal is a Griz. I think he is going to have a big impact for us the rest of this season and into the future. I don't know if we found Jamaal or Jamaal found us, but that was a fine piece of recruiting. How do you see him comparing to former Griz receivers?

I would like to know why he left UW, not because I want dirt, but because I can easily picture him playing at that level and I am really curious as to why they would let him get away. I am looking forward to a touchdown "at 10 to 6" (and 10 to 7) this Saturday.

Great question mikgriz, I have been really trying to figure out a past Griz WR who I would compare Jones to. This combo of Henderson and Jones is starting to reminding me of Mariani and Sambrano as far as explosiveness is concerned. Still can't put my finger on a Jamaal Jones doppelganger though.

Hear you. I've been thinking same thing - like having Mariani and Sambrano, but like Jamaal is not exactly either one
