It happenin

The difference is winning all those playoff games in the FCS. Winning a meaningless bowl game (see the Greater Idaho Potato Bowl) verses winning all the games to get to the FCS Championship game and maybe winning that. That is exciting and more of an accomplishment. For a little school with limited money, which Montana is, that is an accomplishment worth being excited about, and proud of.

Is there anything more fun and exciting than the playoffs in WaGriz??!!

D2 here we come.

Most likely scenarios I see happening:
  1. UC Davis and Sac State get in to MWC. Davis has boatloads (if I remember correctly) of money and donors and while Sac doesn't have the facilities, they already have all the sports necessary. Gives the MWC eyes in the largely populated California market. Remember, TV deals care about potential eyes/viewers, not how many they actually get.
  2. NDSU and UND get in to MWC as again, they have more potential eyes/viewers from the MN metropolitan market
  3. UM and MSU get the call to go MWC
  4. MSU accepts the invite because they're ready and tells the BOR to kick rocks and figure it out - UM waits it out and.....gets left behind in a probably crumbling big sky, eventually playing conference peers like MT Tech, Rocky, Central Washington and EWU in the newly clumped actual D2
Number 4 probably wouldn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if MSU tells the BOR they're going whether they have approval or not. Maybe not as likely anymore with Cruzado retiring, but it wouldn't surprise me. 😬
I think the California schools have a way bigger upside for the conference than the Montana or Dakota schools do. But I think the actual respect of the financial institution is going to o matter. Sac state is considered a lower tier commuter school. UC Davis and Cal Poly are highly respected institutions and would be great additions to MW. Nobody give two shits about Montana or North Dakota outside of the state nor would they draw a television following.

Yeah. Most likely what will happen is the PAC-whatever number will poach from other existing G5 FBS conferences and the MWC will most likely end up taking some combination of UC Davis and Poly/Sac St

If you think you would sell out WaGriz every week for a mediocre FBS team you are nuts. I can speak for my self no way would I keep mine to watch some .500 team play hoping someday to get to a toilet bowl. And currently can’t even out recruit MSU for players (just lost another yesterday and top 6 MT kids are already committed to MSU) try going head to head with those schools to stay competitive. Best facilities/home field in FCS and are not even close to being top recruiting school, hell not even best in the state. Look how Bobby did at UNLV and you will get the picture of what it would look like here.
We have a pretty loyal fan base so I fully believe we'd sell out. Especially when playing better competition. The question is how tf do we sell out games when we play UNC, ISU, Cal Poly, EWU etc?? 🤣

That’s just it. Once you’re infected, there’s no turning back. I think we’d see similar home attendance hosting Texas as we would hosting Prairie View.
