It'll overshadow it if they continue to play like they did last Saturday and lose ballgames otherwise everyone will enjoy the ride if they provide us one.Nothing about the Griz football season will be overshadowed by conference realignment news.

No, them losing will, not the realignment talk. It'll overshadow it if they continue to play like they did last Saturday and lose ballgames otherwise everyone will enjoy the ride if they provide us one.
Yeah. Hopefully that's not the case. No, them losing will, not the realignment talk.
This! Absolute travesty if we have the opportunity and don’t take advantageWell IF they call, we'd best answer because there probably won't be another call coming. There's a G5 playoff looming, we've done everything we needed to do facilities-wise, the team is good, the stadium is packed...fresh off a NC game run...if not now, when?
And so much for this theory according to Rainey's recent tweet. Unbelievable.
At this stage why would Haslam share any information with Rainey about conversations with the MWC until an official decision is made?Yeah, I don't know if I'd put a great deal of stock into his claim that there have been "no" discussions. Of course there have been discussions. For years. Now, I would buy that there likely hasn't been any specific convos, involving specifics like dollars and logistics.
But anyone who believes the ADs and Presidents at theses universities haven't had the "hey, if we happened to have an opening at some point, would you guys be interested" discussions with the mtw is crazy.
Exactly!I'm just going to throw this out there. When it was leaked in 2017 that Hauck was going to be hired as the next Montana head football coach, I remember Kent Haslam came out in an interview saying that he had not talked to Bobby nor had extended a job offer to anyone. A few days later, the official announcement was made. It's pretty obvious that Kent and Bobby had been talking and they were likely just wrapping up final procedures before announcing.
Just because Shaun Rainey interviewed Kent and Kent said that he hasn't received an invitation, or that things are "uncertain" doesn't mean it's the end of the world. For all we know, Kent very well could be talking behind the scene with the MW and keeping it hush like he did with Bobby's hiring. If anything is happening, it wouldn't surprise me that Kent is keeping everything very close to the chest.
I think both schools are going to push hard and I think California is attractive for the MWC.Looks like Sacramento community members are gonna try and push a public campaign for Sac State to get in either the PAC12 or MWC. Doesn't mean they have an invite, and all they have to do is take one look at Sac State's Basketball gym and they'll laugh out loud. I think Davis has a better chance at an invite cause their facilities are actually nice and it would take Sac State years to build a new Basketball arena or expand/modernize their Football stadium
4 would really suckMost likely scenarios I see happening:
Number 4 probably wouldn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if MSU tells the BOR they're going whether they have approval or not. Maybe not as likely anymore with Cruzado retiring, but it wouldn't surprise me.
- UC Davis and Sac State get in to MWC. Davis has boatloads (if I remember correctly) of money and donors and while Sac doesn't have the facilities, they already have all the sports necessary. Gives the MWC eyes in the largely populated California market. Remember, TV deals care about potential eyes/viewers, not how many they actually get.
- NDSU and UND get in to MWC as again, they have more potential eyes/viewers from the MN metropolitan market
- UM and MSU get the call to go MWC
- MSU accepts the invite because they're ready and tells the BOR to kick rocks and figure it out - UM waits it out and.....gets left behind in a probably crumbling big sky, eventually playing conference peers like MT Tech, Rocky, Central Washington and EWU in the newly clumped actual D2

Agreed. Probably won't happen....but we've seen MSU just do what they want before whether they had BOR approval or not (cough, Business school, cough). I'll believe in the BOR actually blocking them from doing something before I believe it to ever happen.4 would really suck
Most likelyWe’re going to get left behind aren’t we.
4 is hilarious given the fact that just 20 years ago MSU was contemplating a drop down to D2 as they were so terrible. Little brother doesn’t know how to think for themselves. They have and always will base everything they do as a copycat of something the Griz are doing or have done, it wouldn’t be any different when considering a move up. Hell, they are even copying the backup beeper after opponent penalties just like we do. They literally can’t come up with or develop anything on their own……….but hey I guess that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Most likely scenarios I see happening:

The difference is winning all those playoff games in the FCS. Winning a meaningless bowl game (see the Greater Idaho Potato Bowl) verses winning all the games to get to the FCS Championship game and maybe winning that. That is exciting and more of an accomplishment. For a little school with limited money, which Montana is, that is an accomplishment with being excited about, and proud of.What I don’t understand is this. Some people say oh I want to play for championships not in some mediocre bowl game. I got news for those people. The fcs title game IS a mediocre bowl game!!!! If you want a t shirt that says fcs champions on it I will make one for you and in essence it will be no different than the shirts that say liberty bowl champions, holiday bowl champions, Detroit motor city bowl champions, Sun bowl champions and the list goes on folks. I say it’s time to run with the bigger dogs and get out of a dying fcs.
