Gunnar Brekke Gatorade POY

Good luck to Gunnar. He made a personal decision and I respect him for it. I would think that a student wanting a PT degree would be light years ahead going to a school with a graduate program in place.
The NCAA shold investigate this matter to determine if MSEuliss violated any rules regarding the change of committment.

Bring in the whambulance once again for BlgsGrizfan.

Why do you keep calling it MSEuliss since Gunnar is from Helena? Did you know that Helena and Euliss, Texas, are not the same place? Did you know that Helena is actually in Montana?

Let me know how your investigation goes.

Gunnar will play RB at MSU and be very good at it, that's also the position he would have played at UM. He is a great kid with a tremendous work ethic. I hope he does well and appreciate how he handled what was a tough situation for the kid. No question this is UM's loss and the Cat's gain.

We need two whambulances now.

JP, MSEuliss is just a nickname. I know full well where Gunnar is from but even a die hard bobcat fan such as yourself would have to agree that MSEuliss football would be a mid conference team without the Texas gunslingers Ash has brought in. The bigger issue is why a bobcat fan such as yourself is so sensitive about a blogger using MSEuliss. Could it be a reality issue on your part?

What's a "reality issue?" I'm just laughing my butt off watching you be about as ironic as any Griz fan is capable of being. You see, no FCS program would be dominant or even competitive without out of state talent. I am certain that the previous statement is undisputed in both fan bases and that we can all agree on at least that.

Yes, the Cats have been blessed with outstanding out-of-state talent, but they also have some significant contributors and stud players from Montana. Maybe you have heard of Cody Kirk. He's from Frenchtown, Montana. Maybe you have heard of Tanner Bleskin. He's from Great Falls, Montana. Maybe you have heard of Buchanan winner Caleb Schriebies. He's from Billings, Montana.

Shall I go on, or will you just admit that you are a hypocrite without peer?

And where would Griz football be without the "gunslingers" we've brought in from Bellvue and Oregon?

If he was projected to play safety I might be a little bummed. If he was projected to play running back, I could care less. Joey Counts is one of the best looking backs I've seen at UM, and he was a true freshman. Throw in Canada and Von and I'm stoked about the backfield, especially given our returning o-line, which should be one the best we've had. I think we lost one non-starter on a very good line. i agree that a quarterback is our missing piece. Nevertheles, I think our o-line, d-line, and linebacking corp will all be the class of the conference this season.

This is my point. The Griz have lucked out on some pretty awesome in-state talent over the past 20 years, no doubt about it. They have also benefited greatly from out of staters as well. I can state with confidence that the best two defensive backs the Cats and the Griz have ever had, Joey Thomas and Trumaine Johnson, respectively, certainly couldn't be found here in Montana.

They may have both been drafted but they were not better football players than Kane Ioane and Colt Anderson from right here in the state. You should be referring to cb's and not db's.

Exsqueeze me, Skookum. But you miss the point. At the time both pairs of players were at their respective schools, they were dominant at their positions and for their teams. We could go to another position to argue the same point, but the overall point I am making is that it is not possible to fill a roster with only Montana boys, nor is it possible to win at a high level with only Montana boys. Can we agree on that?

This whole debate is simply beyond pointless. Neither program would be doing anything without the combination of both in-state and out-of-state kids. Can't keep a consistant program and fan base going without in-state kids. Can't fill all of the positions with good talent without out-of-state kids. Just not enough numbers in Montana to do so.

JP, any knowledgeable FCS fan knows the University and MSEuliss could not field a competitive team without out of state talent. I suspect the bobcats are just going through another lulay cycle in which they recruited a talented out fo state QB and it made them competitive. Throw in his other buddies from Euliss and they make the playoffs to the quarter finals before getting slapped down. After lulay left the cats reverted to their perennial mid conference spot and missed the playoffs.
Kirk is a decent running back but clearly not at the level of Nyugen, Canada, Reynolds or Hilliard. Bleskin, again a decent receiver but not a game changer like Mariani. Shreibeis? Good at his position but not to the level of Biermann. I can't recall Biermann ever having been suspended by the league. I was really surprised to see Schreibeis win the Buck Buchanan Award but apparently the committee saw more than I did. Congratulations fo him. I know the family and they are good people.
Again good luck to Gunnar in his career as a bobcat.

Why don't you make your point...You're are making me tired all over.

Oh, and we made it farther in the playoffs THE YEAR AFTER Lulay then we ever did with him. You jerk store.

Wrong!! The season after Lulay was done, the Cats not only made the playoffs, but hosted and won a first round game, and in the 2nd round they gave mighty App State all they wanted for 3 quarters. That was MSU's best season during the Kramer era, and they did it without Lulay. Neither do I expect the Cats to fold in 2014 either, just because we'll have to replace McGhee.

LOL. Keep them coming, buddy. You're making my Friday!

Travis Lulay and Coach Kramer got Montana State out of the gutter. They never won 9, 10, and 11 games, however. And why do we play, BlgsGriz? To win the game! And did you know, BlgsGriz, that Travis Lulay wasn't the QB when the Cats won a home playoff game in 2006? Does that surprise you?

Debating what will happen in the post-Mcghee era is pointless. Nobody knows but you, apparently. I say let them work out the competition in the summer of 2014 and see how it goes that season. Check in with me later.

If what you say is true about the lackluster talent in Bozeman, then what does that say about the out of state talent in Missoula for that team to only win 5 games?

I'm sorry you are upset about Caleb winning the award. I guess that's why they don't let you vote for the award. I'm also sorry you're upset about him winning the award and being suspended. I suppose if you think that's a character flaw, it is better to have a flaw on the field rather than off, right BlgsGriz? He missed a game and still won it. I saw congrats to him and Kroy Bierman, also one of my favorite NFL players just because of how cool a story it is. I recognize excellence in Griz players and I appreciate and applaud it. You can't do any of those things for the Cats. That's just too bad.

This is why a kid should NEVER give a verbal commitment before they even play their senior year. A lot can change in that time, and it just doesn't make any sense.

In theory, I agree with you, but programs line up their top players at each position that they are recruiting. Unless the kid is head and shoulders above everyone else at that position, the coaches are not going to hold a scholarship for kid 1A if kid 1B commits. Therefore, these kids are kind of forced into giving a verbal early in order to get the scholarship to the school they think they want to go to. Especially if they are offered a full scholarship. It is a crapshoot for the kids as well as the coaches. Offers get pulled or players change their commitment. Happened to the Cats with Kanangota a few years ago. It is a vicious process.

JP, I do not think I said anything negative about Schreibeis with the exception of pointing out the conference had suspended him. I simply did not see him playing at the level of the Buchanan award candidates but I must have been wrong. JP, most of my posts are really intended just to get under your skin and get a hissing fit from you. You have taken every kind of bait I have cast your way. Have a great holiday and I may come trolling for you againover MSEuliss in 2013.
Go Griz and STC!
