Griz @ Southern Utah Game ONE #"Down the pickle barrel baby!"

I like our team. Lots of talent and potential. Huge upside. Hopefully, this year. But also in future years. Very unselfish team. Very good D and hustle. A bunch of guards who can take care of the ball.

Bannan is going to turn into an all-time Griz great.

We have not had a guy with the size to shoot over people and the coordination to do a hook shot since...idk Quale or Andrew Strait??

Akoh??

I would say he was only llike 6'8 not that rim protector size. Im thinking of guys who have the wing span that when they go up they are usually in free airspace and its an easy shot if they have the coordination.

Griz up 34-28. Playing pretty good defense, but a little herky jerky on offense. At least they have quite a few weapons, and don't count on just two or three to do the scoring...

Vasquez easily has the best 3pt stroke his threes go down soft and his misses aren't clankers....I would say he is the only guy that has a legit pretty looking 3pt stroke.....yet he is not very consitent...at least whenever he puts it up it looks like it should go in lul. Hopefully he becomes a true sniper.

Agree. Some real nice ball movement and pretty interior passes for easy scores. Very promising for game 2.

I know I was a little disappointed with how out of sync we looked to start last game, but it just dawned on me we got NO Pridgett. We were really young last year but we had one experience big time floor general go to guy. We are just as young this year but NO floor general. Do we need a floor General to emerge or will we be ok this year with broad development and a different guy being the guy from game to game?

Neither Velasquez or Owens appear afraid to take the game over. But, UM doesn't seem like that kind of team. The game is changing everywhere. It's like there are no more fixed position players. Thus, the fouls and average shooting. But, I swear, Parker threw me off with a left handed 3! Hard to defend against a leftie and I think UM has two.

Agree. The O just doesn't inspire confidence in me yet, 1dribbling and four standing.

The D is like always , good but miss the attitude.

11 Griz fouls to 4, 7 turnovers to 4, and only 2-6 from the line yet somehow we lead by 6 at the half.

Wait same game ? The pass to the low post is there but they don't hit it in time. Looks like the standard game plan, drive and hope for fouls.
I see too many people standing instead of moving and cutting.

DeCuire said pre-game the Griz had to hold SUU to under 40% fg shooting for the game. So far, so good; SUU at 33% (with a lot of missed bunnies, tho).

Out of UM's 34 points, 19 came from the bench. Only player not to score is Egun, so they've really spread it around. Good to have a deep bench. Players in foul trouble are Steadman (3), Bannan (2) and Anderson (2) -- all our big guys.

Whitney getting a lot fewer minutes this game; anyone got a clue why? Especially after he was the glue for the Griz last game...

Geez, I guess I'm not expecting flawless execution every possession while trying multiple lineup combinations. I see improvement and some nice spurts of good ball . If you expect perfection don't know what to tell you. Maybe wait for Xmas day and the NBA.
