Griz @ Southern Utah Game ONE #"Down the pickle barrel baby!"

I am not sorry, I miss Timmy, there is no attitude out there.
Was it written somewhere that steadman was all pre-season, he's got a lot of work to do.

A little help here with Parker, whats his forte ? haven't seen it yet.

Refs were bad in the 1st half but at a certain point it's not an accident that we're repeatedly in this position.

How much of last season had us in this same position also?

A lot. We had 4 guys in top 11 in the Big Sky in terms of fouls. Mack was 11th in the conference in fouls last year while only playing 12 mpg.

What's wrong with Steadman's 12 points on 6-9 shooting? 2d leading scorer. In 17 minutes due to foul problems.

Vasquez got 14.

You people don’t know anything about ball. Steadman was the best player on the court. He had a couple bs on the ground fouls and fouled out. Played limited minutes, but when he played, he gave them the work.
This loss is on questionable coaching decisions. Deciding to not play Whitney for whatever reason, putting Bannan on a guard in the final possesion when Satterwhite is on the court.

As much as we can blame the refs, at some point we need to stop fouling over and over again! This has been the Staple of Decuires program. Year and year out, we’ve got to be one of the highest fouling teams in college basketball every year. There’s no reason any team should shoot 40 free throws in a game ever! I knew after Vasquez tied the game that we were gonna lose, because the same thing happened at NAU last year and multiple other occasions. Until we start fouling less, we’re in for a long season!

Somebody else gets it? Wow never thought I’d see that.

I thought a huge number of the fouls were bad calls. Both ways.

The lack of offensive movement, questionable rotations, questionable decisions like putting Bannan on White, and the high foul numbers have been staples. He brings in the talent, but when you have an offense as stagnant as this, hard to win games. It’s the same thing over and over. Guard dribbles left to right, post entry to one of 2 bigs posted on the low block(messes up spacing, no space for drives), dribble handoff, and PnR. It’s a joke. And yet they have the audacity to recruit a transfer like Satterwhite, a guy who utilized spacing on NAU to go the rack. We don’t have that here, and are stuck with a player with a very questionable fit.

Ok, so someone else explain the scoring lapses against BSC teams then? Maybe it’s because. Oh I don’t know. The offense doesn’t work.

Oh don’t get me wrong, there were some bad calls in that game, I thought Andersen and Steadman each got hosed hard at least once, but still there’s no excuse. Go back and find the last time the Griz had less then 20 fouls in a game. I bet it didn’t happen at all last year.

Disappointed but not despondent. Plan to see coaching staff struggling with rotations while the players are struggling with the system. I feel the Griz have more talent by a long shot over most of the other teams in the conference but I feel the coaches are trying to fit a round peg in a square hole. I think he needs to simplify the offense and concentrate on the defense. We are committing way to many fouls because the players are out of position and when they try and adjust they get called. This has been our problem throughout Travis’s tenure and I think he will end up being one of the most successful coaches to ever coach at Montana. I’m in no way knocking his coaching but maybe he needs to adapt his coaching to his personnel.
Familiarity will come with the guys playing together in real game situations. By the end of the season, assuming there still seems to be some doubt, I think we’re going to be very dangerous, but until then it’s a work in progress. Keep the faith Griz fans.
