Can three teams from the same Conference get seeded? Or does it not work that way? (Obviously EWU gets seeded, it seems the battle is between NAU and UM).

havgrizfan said:Griziron - you said the only way UM can get a seed is if they finish second in the conference. That is not correct. That is not a rule and the the Griz are a PERFECT example of that as they have been seeded higher than several Big Sky teams who have finished tied with or who have better conference records than them in past. Second - COMPARED TO the rest of the FCS, UM is the ONLY place that has traditionally drawn well over the years. To say UM doesn't draw that well in the playoffs is absurd. 26,000 for a first-round game? No. But when it comes to attendance in the playoffs, it's MONTANA, Appy a distant second, and the rest of the FCS with terrible numbers. Remember the 09' Villanova/William & Mary Game? That was a national semifinal with about 1,100 fans.

I agree there's no rule regarding seeding vs. conference finish. My opinion is that if UM finishes 3rd in the conference, they won't get seeded. I didn't say that UM doesn't draw well in the playoffs, especially compared to other FCS teams. In 2011, UM drew just over 22,000 for the first game and a bit over 23,000 for the second. Great attendance, but 26,000 just doesn't happen.

Attendance has no bearing on a NCAA decision to award a seed or a home game. It will help the University decide what they will bid to get the home game.

If UM is seeded, they only need to meet the minimum bid requirement for any round in which they play a lower seed or an unseeded team. The bid amount really only comes into play for a game between two unseeded teams, or if a seeded opponent team fails to bid the minimum required to guarantee the game.

tnt said:Given BSC teams performance against FBS teams from other conferences, I wouldn't hold my breath. We haven't done much to prove we are any better than a fifth level or worse. Even EWUs performance was lack luster. That loss to NAU will bite us hard. Unless we get a lot of help We fiinish behind Eastern and NAU who both beat us. Befor we worry about seeding, I'd like to knowanyone is convinced they will take 3 BSC teams, and if UM falters (say against the cats) why they would take 4?
We not only have to consider that but have to consider the stellar performance of the BSC in the playoffs the last few years.
