I don't think there is any doubt that Hauck and the staff will be having the team ready for this. If my memory is right, that was his first loss was to Division II NDSU. I am absolutely certain he has not forgotten how that felt.

Also, while I understand the hand wringing on this game, I do get why we booked it. Yes, it may not help our reputation to win and it may hurt our rankings severely if we lose, but this game is actually a big step up from any of our recent pre-season games (excluding Washington). Last year we played an incredibly easy schedule before conference games. I think it will be good to play a team of this talent level early, and will have the team more ready for conference play.

Mike Reilly, a Kalispell product, damn near slew the Griz in WGS. I was one of the 25,326 there. Reilly was amazing.
Anyone who thinks Ferris State couldn't come into WGS and knock off the Griz is a fool. Some of you would have to admit that Growler actually speaks wisdom, at least some of the time. Well, you'd admit it to yourself, anyway. :lol:

The Griz are top heavy with Division2, NAIA level Montana kids with a sprinkling of kids that are borderline FBS talent, thus, the difference will probably come down to coaching.

I feel pretty good about our coaches with successful FCS/FBS college and NFL coaching careers.

Any team can come into Griz stadium and win. There’s no wisdom in knowing that. Should we see how much Growler wants to bet? Even up.

Real question, though: Where do you think Ferris would be in the FCS? Do you think they are a better team than, say, Western Illinois or Indiana State? I would think that they would be better than those, but would they be a playoff team? Top-30?

This Griz team doesn't have as good a record as the team that lost to NDSU. There were players on that team that just two years earlier won a national championship.

If I was Ferris, looking at a Big Sky Team that placed sixth the previous season, I'd like the odds.

Yes. They beat those teams. They are immediately a playoff team...top 15.

Me too. But, you live in rainbows and unicorns with respect to the Griz.

There is no reason to schedule this game...none. The AD owns this one and it's not one to be proud of.

I agree with the poster who said we have nothing to gain and everything to lose. I attended the Husky game 2 years ago, or was it last year? Anyway I was invited to a Husky tailgate party and they were all confident of a Big Husky victory. All but one fan who spoke up and said those exact words, “nothing to gain but everything to lose”. Of course his fellow fans laughed us off.
We were then invited to attend the Victory celebration after the game. Guess what? The parking lot was empty and not a Husky tailgate was to be seen. In fact the entire parking lot was empty. We did see two or three Grizzlies tailgaters which was a great site to see.
Lesson to be earned. Each team has 11 players on the field at any given time. The team with the biggest heart and drive will be in the winners circle. Beware is all I will say.
