Montana football has a lot more fans than any UC Davis sport. It is more about how many fans Montana football has for an FCS/small D1 sport rather than UC Davis lacking fans.

Hard to blame Halam for the hiring of Schweyen. She was already hired by Selvig for all practical purposes. Haslam caught hell for letting her go after her 3 year contract expired.

But hiring Stitt was a rock and all his.

Football is driving re alignment from UM’s perspective because their revenue and brand overwhelmingly come from football and that isn’t a bad thing.

Arizona is not going to leave the Big 12 even though being there is hindering the football program because they are a basketball school and the Big 12 is elite for basketball. Likewise UM isn’t going to leave the Big Sky even though it is bad for basketball because UM is a football school.

They’re not going to. There are only a handful of schools where basketball makes more revenue than football. There honestly might not be any.

Most FBS, FCS, MBB and WBB teams all lose money and are subsidized by things like large student fees. UM football is one of the few programs that doesn’t lose money. It is a big risk to potentially lose a profit making program when they are not common in modern high level college athletics.

Sorry, I don't believe that would be the case. If MBB and WBB revenue exceeds football than the athletic department is probably in big trouble financially.

Montana basketball isn’t going to be Duke, Kansas or UConn. Those are the basketball programs where revenue is exceeding football revenue. Even at Arizona which is definitely a basketball school they get more revenue from football than basketball. Same with Kentucky.

The only way they are not is if the basketball program is a blue blood which is not possible at Montana due to many reasons.
