Defense

This week will be an interesting test for the defense. Their primary vulnerability so far this season has been in their passing defense. Sac struggles passing the ball but is prolific running the ball. I’m interested to see their gameplan coming into this. There’s hardly any point bringing a ton of pressure against team that primarily runs the ball and can’t pass very well. Hope our rushing defense is up to the task this week.

After rewatching the SHU game, Kade Boyd was the player that really got torched. He was personally responsible for two or three blown plays that resulted in points for SHU. He should not be playing man coverage…..ever. Go watch the play at 6:50 of the 4th. #10 just runs right by him for an easy score. Doesn’t jam him or get physical with him at all….just watched him run right by. Maybe put terahiti wolf in and see what he can do. That was a piss poor effort

With a 3-3-5, do you think the Griz don’t blitz in non-passing situations?

Oh they definitely blitz in non passing situations. I’m just saying it will be interesting to see how they game-plan and play a team like sac that doesn’t pass much. You still blitz against predominantly running teams and in non passing situations, but the frequency that they blitz will probably go down. Do they bring in heavier personnel packages, run more zone? Man? I’m just interested to see what personnel they run and how they scheme against a team like this.

Got it. Good questions.
