Some of you keep making a big deal about how UM, or whatever team, hasn't beaten a top team--so I did some looking.
I looked at the top 15 teams--and excluding UM and MSU (who are nos. 5 and 13) because we know who they played--and then determined which of the top 15 (effectively top 13 due to the exclusions) had been beaten by a top 25 team.
The answer is that a top 15 (actually 13) team has been beaten by a top 25 team only 6 times.
No. 6 McNeese has been beaten by no. 8 SE La. No. 8 SELa has been beaten by no. 16 SDS. No. 9 SHS has been beaten by no. 6 McNeese and no. 8 SELa. No. 11 Coastal has been beaten by no. 18 Cha So. No. 15 YSU has been beaten by no. 1 NDS.
The reasons are as follows. The top "13" haven't lost many games. Some losses were to FBS teams. Some losses were to teams not in the top 25. Alot of top "13" teams haven't played many, if any, top 25 teams.
I realize that my methodology could be better or different, but I did it this way, and now have to do some other stuff. Feel free to fix or supplement it.
