Gusafson or Wentz?

Get it back on subject.

Wentz is a once a decade type talent in the FCS and has the potential to be a star in the NFL. Not real fair to compare any FCS QB to him, in my opinion...

Saying that, it is not illogical to think that Gus will have a good shot of getting drafted if he plays to his potential.

If he plays to his potential, he'll be riding the pines by mid-season. The Kentucky Kid is a much better QB.

You have said this over and over and over. How the f*** would you know anything about Phillips?

i know all..... see all :o

I must admit that was funny. You have a point though. Phillips has barely taken a live snap since high school, and I don't think he saw the field much (if at all) at UK. So it does make one wonder why Growler is so positive that he will start over Gus. Don't get me wrong, the kid has talent and his highlight reels look great (don't they all) but even an NFL scout would have a hard time translating that into the absolute success that Growler says will happen.

Now don't mis-quote me. There are plenty of other posters to do that. I never said that Phillips would a be great QB. I only said that he would prove to be better than Gus. I think the next great QB COULD be the red-shirt kid.

Gotcha. He may very well turn into that if he gets his chance. If Gus cole out "lights out" and stays healthy them I don't think Phillips will get his shot until next year. Jensen would be a redshirt freshman then and maybe do him solid to get one more year of the offense under his belt and then I'm with you, that kid COULD be a big deal for us

Urinal, you are like a sticky booger. Please go away. Your football knowledge is not even Little Grizzly level.

Growler might be a dick but he's right. The only thing that'll stop Phillips is his lack of experience in Stitts offense. Just my $.02

Growler, care to make a friendly wager on the Phillips replacing Gus for anything but an injury? I promise if I'm wrong, I will show up at the Mo Club and not run out the back door when it's time to pay up. Now, I'm not the owner of two medical supply companies obviously, and I've never had the scratch to donate statues to the UM, even though if I did, I'd never threaten to take them down because the football team doesn't win enough. But, I can afford a $50 wager that Gus doesn't get yanked for Phillips. You're so far off base on that prediction that you don't even realize that as it stands, Chad Chalich is actually the No. 2 QB. So, what you say buddy?

I'll chalk that up as your opinion, unless you have been watching these guys in practice everyday. I know many others have differing opinions. We'll see the facts emerge this fall.

I believe I said that was just my $.02. And while I feel Phillips to be a better QB, I do not believe he will take the starting job over from Gus do to his lack of time and experience in Stitts system. So the point is mute.

I think Phillips probably will have a better year next year than a healthy Gus this year. He could be special for a season. He may make as 2nd on depth chart, but he's starting over, whereas the other 2 are not. I'm sure he will get some time this year (let's hope in blow out wins), but even though I like his upside, I agree with Hav on this one. There's always that slim chance that it all clicks right away over summer and he comes in and there is no way Stitt can not put him in. His offense, though, has a lot to do with reps. there is no way he's letting the 2/3 QB get a lot of reps with the new crop of WR. He's going to want Gus to run with them 99% of the time to get the feel of the game. Sorry Hav, prob cost ya $50!

Your cute little post only confirms my feelings about you, and I would not bet with you on anything. Chalich is a total bust, and will not be the back-up QB after fall practice. And, I want to make it 100% clear that I have never met Alpha, wouldn't know him if I saw him, and NEVER RAN OUT THE BACK DOOR OF THE MO CLUB. In fact, I did not know the Mo Club even had a back door! This is a myth that he has perpetrated. I have stated the facts over and over again, but if you need to keep using it to further your weak-assed agenda, have at it.

Bottom line is, I don't bet with people whom I know will never pay up, and certainly don't bet with ass wipes.

We all should know that Stitt will do everything he can to make Gus live up to all the hype Stitt has said about him to the media and fan base. If you listen to Stitt gush about Gus (kinda has a nice ring to it, eh?), you would think he is the second coming of Peyton Manning. So, there is no way that Gus isn't the starting QB to begin the season.

But, after Gus misses enough wide open receivers, and throws too many picks, the pressure from the fan base to replace him will cause Bubble Screen Bob to put Phillips into the game. After Phillips shows Griz Nation what we could have had during the previous games, he will become the starting QB.

Good coaches don't let fan bases pressure them into any decision, including who starts at QB.
