Good job by J holding down the fort while we work through this debacle. I'll update the portal tracker in the other thread.
I’m not trying to hype them up. I’m just pointing out that J appears to be doing a good job of holding down the fort in the midst of all this uncertainty.Guys, I wouldn't get too excited by these signings. Grace Olson could be a decent pick up, but the other 2 have just over 200 minutes combined this past season. Chris was the recruiter not J.
If I was in Missoula I’d send some!Hope the folks on here are sending J a note wishing him luck and support. This has got to be a difficult position to be in for him.
UM definitely owes J a bonus for keeping the program a float during these times. Heard through the grapevine he likes big foot cookies

This was filmed Thursday in Pullman. I know- not trying to fixate on WSU —but they are top of my feed rnSorry
This post is just an example of the many others I’ve seen of teams in formal conditioning. (Also love the band work to strengthen ACL/knees)
School started a day or two apart for these teams. Jan 12 was the 8hr start NCAA wide.
My point is- how do we expect Coach J to recruit virtually AND in-person (Seattle), lead the group in Missoula, and
Also, I'd like to state for the record, that I don't think it's any of the people I mentioned (Rouse of course we know has taken a job).
Let’s get Allie Long on the ph
That thinking is totally flawed, if minutes at a previous school dictate if your going to be a good player than Chloe Seelhoff should never been a Griz. At UW, freshman year played only 29 minutes, as a sophomore play a total of 377 minutes with 1 goal, she turned out to a be a hell of a player for the Griz.Guys, I wouldn't get too excited by these signings. Grace Olson could be a decent pick up, but the other 2 have just over 200 minutes combined this past season. Chris was the recruiter not J.
Maybe we let these girls settle in and give them a chance. Last time I checked Griz have a strong history of players proving themselves after playing minimal minutes in their previous years or previous stints. Our last 3 goalkeepers got 1st team all conference the year after playing zero minutes the season before. Makena Smith played in 5 games for Miami Ohio. Lots behind every player's story and path. Often we don't know the reason, like maybe one of the girls had pneumonia that ruined her season last year...These players look like the could be good contributors to the program and I look forward to seeing these girls thrive at Montana.Guys, I wouldn't get too excited by these signings. Sources are telling me that we've made a hire. Have not heard who it is though.
The level of a player who gets recruited to UW you do realize is world apart from a player from MTSU or UC San Diego. Low minute P4 players have a higher percentage chance of being good at Montana than very low minute players at average mid-majors.
Look I’m sure J was trying to recruit a bunch of much higher level players but with the team being stripped it’s a tough sell. This generation wants to join a good team, where the team is going to stay at the top and they play straight away. The level of entitlement is insane.
If so now the waiting begins, current players and commitments can enter the portal once a coach is hired.Sources are telling me that we've made a hire. Have not heard who it is though.
Stand corrected. You are correct. Can the school just pony up the money to hire the candidate they originally wanted.I have heard the opposite, no hire has been made and speaking to other candidates has started. Also, you have 30 days to go into the portal after your coach has left. When a new coach is hired, there is no window to enter the transfer portal until the spring window opens for everyone.
Except a lot of that money to pay the Football players comes from NIL donations, just like Soccer. It's not coming out of athletic department's pockets which is what is used for coaching salaries. Was told that football is to pay their first string players $30k, second string $15k, and down!! Guess they’re hoping buy stability to football but would be nice if we could afford to pay for a Soccer HC, code complaint locker room. But hey let’s keep throwing money to the team that can’t figure out MSU.
Was told by a booster an hour ago that he spoke with somebody in the athletic department who told him that they got their guy and an announcement should come within the next couple days. That's where my info came from.Stand corrected. You are correct. Can the school just pony up the money to hire the candidate they originally wanted.
Sounds like a game of telephone which is never correct. Was told by a booster an hour ago that he spoke with somebody in the athletic department who told him that they got their guy and an announcement should come within the next couple days. That's where my info came from.
The only ones in the photo that had to show commitment to the Griz were Lucy and J because they were the only ones offered somewhere else to go to (WSU). Perhaps a new freshman too. Several other of the girls called Chris after Kyle’s tweet and asked to go with him to WSU, but weren’t offered to join them. Those girls (and parents) were willing to go to Pullman… (funny since some now talk about importance of commitment and how classless it was to leave the program with so few players.)
I agree that J should be named interim at this point, but he needs to get the girls training regardless of official title or not. That ice cream social has been the only time the team got together this semester… no lifting, no conditioning and no soccer yet. NCAA allows 8 hours a week at this point and none of it was set up for them last week. Hopefully they have a practice schedule and times for other training moving forwards.
